Poor level of service. Takes what's easy, not willing to do the work. Don't give him the time of day he's not willing to give you.

I had an issue with the military trying to charge me $15,000 for a bonus I never received from them. If you don't know what dealing with DFAS is like, it's a pain. You have to use an online system which takes them up to 90 days (yes...3 months) to reply to your message. Even then, the replies are extremely short, vague, and most of the time containing information only they can decipher (codes to things you can't even look up). I did everything I could. I sent them everything they needed. After hours and hours, days and days, and MONTHS of dealing with these very rude people who really didn't care about me or the fact that I'd served for 7 years. On top of that, they didn't care that they were wrong, they were relentless in trying to get this money that wasn't even close to in their right to demand. I decided I needed help. I somehow found Derek Metts's office and spoke to a very nice receptionist who put me through to speak with Derek. Derek explained to me that he doesn't typically deal with this type of situation, but that he'd do it anyway. He also was honest and informed me that I'd already done everything there was to be done. That I'd already sent all the proof that was necessary and that all he would do is compiled everything and send it in one document with his name attached. Unfortunately for us regular people, that's what is needed sometimes. Upon receipt of his letter, DFAS responded *promptly* which was astounding already, but also letting me know that they were wrong and have corrected the issue. Paying for a simple letter sounds ridiculous, but in the world of culprits and exploiters, having a lawyer's back up can help resolve the situation much more quickly than alone. Best of all, it took away all the stress and torture of sitting on the phone for hours on hold and sending messages that would take up to 3 months to get replies that were basically nonsense. Definitely recommend.

Metts Legal did a fantastic job getting a settlement with our insurance company for a denied claim on our roof. Not only did Metts Legal handle the settlement, but they also worked with the roofing contractor to repair the roof based on the settlement amount, which took a lot of the communication/coordination off my plate. I would highly recommend Metts Legal and would use them again in a heartbeat.

Derek Metts provided me with more than excellent service. Unfortunately I have had the need for many attorneys for many different legal matters over the years. I was always able to reach Derek by phone and if I received his voice mail he called me back expeditiously, many times in the evening. He was more approachable than anyone else I have worked with in the past and really cared about the outcome of my situation. He was also honest and full of integrity. After completing the council I hired him for I inquired about future service but it was in an area of law that he does not practice. Many lawyers would have still taken the case but not Derek. He aggressively found me a lawyer and referred me to her. Derek sets the benchmark high for other lawyers to follow.
