My wife and I were referred to Derek by the roofing contractor who replaced our roof last year. The roof needed to be replaced as a result of storm damage. My roofing contractor (who previously was a claims adjuster) thought from his experience and based on the damage to our roof, that we were entitled to a roof replacement. The decision of the insurance company, however, was that we suffered approximately $800 in damages. Nowhere near the cost of the new roof (approximately $20,000). Having said that, we called Derek. My wife and I are very picky and after several conversations with him, we were very comfortable having Derek represent us. The insurance company, not to our surprise, stonewalled us for many months. For perspective, the claim was submitted around March 1 of 2020 but it wasn't until mid-January 2021 that we settled our case through mediation. During the entire process, Derek was always there for us. He responded to emails and phone calls the same day or the next working day. He encouraged us with facts that from his experience, we had a very good case and therefore a very good chance of winning. Of course we understood he could not guarantee a win. I remember during the several hour mediation that there were more than a few times time we didn't think the insurance company was going to be reasonable. Derek assured us that a reasonable settlement would likely be reached. And it was! Like I said, my wife and I are very picky. We have high expectations for people we work with. Derek met and exceeded all our expectations. We would use Derek again, we have mentioned Derek in conversations with friends and if anybody asks us for a recommendation, we will recommend Derek.
