I was referred to Marlyn by a family member. She handled the closing on his home & he was very happy with her service. I consulted her regarding a Title on property I co-own. I needed guidance regarding the sale of the property & she explained everything to me clearly & took her time doing so to make sure that I understood everything.

Marlyn was referred to us by a friend who is also an attorney. She was extremely helpful in helping us navigate the purchase of our new home. There were quite a few issues and she help to break down and explain each step of the process. She held out hand through it all and am so grateful for her expertise and knowledge.

Marlyn is absolutely the best lawyer! She saved me from buying condo in one building. The building was bad, they had a lawsuit and a lot of violations and i didn't know about that. She did the research and saved me all the money! My second try was good and she did absolutely amazing job! She did everything for me and did it so quick and I closed my property without any issues! You can trust her and she will lead you and help you out with everything! Thank you so much! I have great condo! I couldn't do it without your help!

Marlyn represented me with the sale of my Florida condo as a foreign seller from Canada. I am so thankful that I came across such a great attorney. She was always available when I needed to get in touch with her. She constantly checks her emails and gets back to you very quickly. Marlyn immediately steered me in the right direction by referring me to a wonderful accountant that specializes in foreign property sales and FIRPTA. Without Marlyn’s guidance, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. She was there every step of the way and made sure everything was done properly, right up until the end. I would definitely recommend Marlyn as an attorney to anyone selling their property, especially foreign buyers and sellers. Marlyn, thank you for all of your effort.

She took 20 minutes to help me better understand my legal situation although I was not a client. She referred me to a socialist in another legal field and refused to accept any payment for her time. I am a Legal consultant retired from full time legal practice. I was the St Partner in my law firm of 50 employees for 28 years I would have hired Marilyn in an instant. She is the kind of lawyer and person the legal field needs Hire her as you will get honest kind and expert advice.

I couldn't think of a better lawyer to handle any of my deals. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Very detail oriented. Gives you all the time you need and his fees are fair. And most importantly: He's got years of experience and has been involved in his own Real Estate transactions - so as a client, I feel like he handles my deals as his own. Which is a great feeling.

Mr. Dubin represented me in several real estate transactions. In each case, Mr. Dubin's legal knowledge, advice, and drafting were exemplary. Mr. Dubin was also highly professional and responsive not only to me as the client, but also to counsel for the other parties to the transactions. I sincerely recommend Mr. Dubin to others in need of competent real estate counsel.

Ms. Mooneeram has helped me with a couple of traffic and immigration issues, both matters were dealt by Ms. Mooneeram with equal dedication, competence, diligence, efficiency, honesty and of course excellent results. I have met with several attorneys in my search for a lawyer that will uphold my interests first, and without any margin for doubt Karen has done so. She's extremely bright, and explains everything in a way that is simple to understand for everyone involved. I simply cannot recommend her enough. If you're looking for a great attorney, that is thorough in her work, and will move your case forward in an efficient manner, I would recommend Ms. Mooneeram, and her firm Mooneeram & Serres P.A., to everyone. When you retain them, they will undoubtedly help you while making sure that the nerves and the stress associated to any kind of legal dispute is simply gone. Amazing attorney, great law firm, she is highly recommended.

I'm sorry, whoever you are, that you had a bad experience with me. This matter does not sound even remotely familiar. Although I would relish the opportunity to speak with you about this and I encourage you to contact me, I know you won't, because your objective is to lessen my reputation in the community.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Aventura, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
