I spent hours researching a family law attorney to help me with custody for my infant daughter. I found Sutton Law Firm on Avvo and was very impressed by their glowing reviews. I contacted them and set up an initial phone consultation with Debra Sutton for $250. My appointment was for a phone consultation for 3pm. At 2:55pm I was contacted by her paralegal and told she was running late and would call me as soon as she could break away. Finally at 3:42pm (42 minutes late) I received a call. I was very patient and understanding. I explained the situation that I was in, asked for advice/opinions and truly got nothing valuable. I don’t think I received any advice that I hadn’t already researched on my own. I was told several times throughout the call “you just answered your own question”. Clearly I am not a lawyer or I wouldn’t be seeking legal advice. I seriously feel like I wasted $250 of my money for nothing. The entire call was no help to me and I was very disappointed. I was then told if I wanted to pursue legal action it would be a minimum of a $2500 retainer. I am still confused as to what my next steps are. I’m very sad that I wasted money and time and really actually feel worse than I did before the consultation. I totally regret this consultation.

I have hired Ms. Sutton twice and both times she has gone above and beyond. She is professional but also caring. More then once she called me to calm my anxiety about my case. Her professionalism and knowledge of the law in the courtroom made me glad she was my lawyer. Hopefully I never need a lawyer again, but if I do, I will hire Ms. Sutton.
