Our HOA imposed an unreasonable demand on us regarding a construction matter related to a home we recently bought in Florida. I am sure you know by now: There are SO many lawyers out there... Today, more than ever, such professionals are accessible remotely via Zoom. If it was once easy to narrow down a good lawyer locally - you now have Florida lawyers living in NY, IL or CA offering their services to Florida residents. They all promise the world: Quick turn-around and for a low amount of money. Too good to be true? That's because IT IS! My wife and I got a burned a couple of times, and then we found Michael Greenfield... Given the negative experience we had before Michael, I was very hesitant and skeptical - but Michael shattered any wall I built, and he did it with a smile. On our initial call he asked not to be fooled by his babyface and boy, was he right...! Lookup the word "professionalism" in the dictionary and if Michael's picture isn't there - it must be an oversight. He is, by far, the most professional attorney we ever worked with. Michael is dedicated and detail-oriented, like one would expect from a person who is supposed to draft papers that can make it or break it based on a comma... Michael offered to meet us at home for our initial discussion and spent a few hours logging every piece of information relevant to our estate planning. By the time he was done, I was convinced: WE FOUND THE RIGHT PERSON! What followed was no less than a close correspondence to iron out every detail relevant to our documents. He asked all the right questions and made sure he has answers for each and every one! On our second and final meeting, Michael offered to meet us at home again - saving us a good amount of driving time. He took time to explain every document we signed, made sure we are clear on anything we need to do after signing, and advised us of next steps. HOA's can hold a lot of power. They can make decisions which seem arbitrary or unreasonable and then use their retained lawyers to intimidate homeowners. All is not lost! I called LS Carlson Law, PC in Boca Raton and definitely found the "equalizers"! Jeff Kominsky and Ahmet Brown are talented lawyers who have specialized in representing homeowners. I doubt this is the most lucrative side of the business and I must commend them for their dedication, concern and caring. Jeff and Ahmet are very sharp and excellent communicators. They were totally straightforward about the costs involved and the results I might expect. Sure enough, the HOA reversed their decision after just a couple of weeks and I couldn't be happier with the result. Bravo!
