I spoke with multiple attorneys in multiple states asking them to help change the beneficiary designation of a Trust after the death of a family member . They ALL said I had absolutely no legal chance of doing so and would not even consider taking the case. One phone call to Dan Siegel changed all of that . After hearing the details , he told me he believed he could get me what I wanted, even though the odds of winning were heavily against me. After around 6 weeks the beneficiary designation was changed to what I wanted and the monies were distributed . Dan was the consummate professional from our first phone call on. My initial complaint drafted by Dan Seigel was dismissed by the Judge because it did not have the necessary facts included. Dan’s response to the Court? “But this is the same complaint I always file.” That is him in a nutshell. Charging far too much for boilerplate pleadings. I provided all of the facts necessary to write a detailed complaint – he included virtually none of them. And when I asked why, he told me, “I do this all the time,” and shut me down. I spent thousands of dollars only to have my complaint dismissed and then I had to start all over again – and pay him for it all over again. No apology, no discount for the amended filing, nothing. In Court he was easily rattled and made poor arguments; in one hearing he actually argued the Judge out of ruling on our behalf. On two of his five invoices he billed me at the wrong rate (higher than agreed upon, of course). When I pointed this out to him, he was curt and defensive with me. And when I fired him and found a new attorney, Dan contacted that new attorney five days after sending his final invoice to ask if he was going to get paid. His rate was 50% more than every other attorney I contacted, and while he advertises “concierge service,” the only thing concierge about his service was his price.
