First of all, Greg Kramer does nothing, his Clerk (Wayne) does all of the work. BUT the clerk does not go to Court. So Kramer, who does not keep up-to-date on the info, is the one actually representing you. Anything you give to Kramer will not make it to the Clerk (I gave Kramer original documents that never made it to the clerk, had to re-complete my intake form, etc). There is a lack of communication between Kramer and the Clerk. They rack up legal bills and give no results. Clerk wrote lots of motions and files (and subsequently charged me for his time), then they would not use them. For example, they unilaterally decided to do Contempt of Court on the opposite party when he didn’t pay his child support, spent a lot of my time writing emails, motions, etc. Then it all just disappeared. When I asked what happened the clerk said, “No contempt. Greg made that decision and it had been already removed from prior hearing.” I was not asked to start or stop that process, but I was charged. That is just one example of many where they wasted my money in that manner. Kramer gave terrible advice. The #1 reason I got a lawyer was so they could guide me through the process and help me know what outcome to expect. Kramer is either ignorant to how judges typically rule in family court OR purposefully misled me in order to make money off of me. I suspect a little of both. When the opposing counsel asked us to go to mediation, Kramer and his Clerk told me not to go and to wait until after the first court date. They continually reassured me that nothing would happen at the court date (which they set) except appointment of a GAL and a Social Investigation. Kramer recommended and set up this court date and then was completely unprepared. Nor did he prepare me (I called him multiple times asking to meet, and he kept saying we had plenty of time). As one small example (I have many) the opposing lawyer had a document that I had originally provided for evidence at the beginning of the legal process. Kramer tried to object to it and the opposing counsel reminded him “your office filed this.” To make matters more laughable, Kramer then asked if the opposing counsel had printed a copy for him. Kramer had zero evidence, made zero points, alienated the judge in his opening statement (and actually argued when the judge corrected him until the judge said that he could stop and read the transcripts if necessary). He was not credible in court at all. Kramer simply talked in circles. He obviously just likes to hear himself talk, but there is no substance being said. Our Guardian Ad Litem told me Greg “did not advocate for you at all.” The opposing counsel stated that Greg “made a fool of himself.” Greg emailed me hours after the trial saying he was sorry, but also deflecting blame from himself. One day later he emailed me saying that he assumed I wanted him to withdraw and that they would prepare a final bill and the paperwork for withdraw. The next day the clerk messaged me saying, “Mr. Kramer thinks you will be seeking new counsel. Is that correct?” Kramer pushed me very hard to let him leave the case. So Kramer did not do his job, which put me in a terrible position, and then immediately wanted to withdraw from the case. He charged me a significant amount of money, got me no results, and then left me scrambling to find another lawyer to fix what he had ruined. Terrible. He is the exact type of lawyer that gives lawyers a bad name. He does no work and does not care about his clients. He needs to retire.

We hired the law office of Colleen Glenn and all I can say with all honestly I highly recommend attorney Colleen. From the beginning until the very end she was on top of things regarding my boyfriend’s case. Colleen has represented my boyfriend for more than 10 years on different occasions and we never question her work, we are always left satisfied with her representation. We are thankful and grateful for all she has done especially for his recent case, in which he was looking at doing an extra 5 years but Colleen did her thing in court and the judge made a great ruling. Thank you Colleen. May god bless you and your firm, Maggie

Great attorney to work with especially if you have never been through this process before. She took the time to explain and if not available would make the time for you to get your questions answered. I was so pleased with her office and everyone that works there. If you find yourself in need ofan attorney I would definitely recommend!

Every aspect of my experience with hiring Colleen was great. I immediately got peace of mind the moment I hired her. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review in my life but I just had to in this case. When you hire Colleen you know right away no matter what that you’re going to get the best possible outcome with your case. It took her 3 seconds to name a statute that got my case completely dismissed that I had been dealing with over a year. She was easy to talk to, but professional and no nonsense at the same time. Always kept me posted on what was going on. Her employees were great too. I felt hopeless in my case. She really saved my life. Thanks Colleen

Hiring Amy was a godsend! I was arrested for DUI, never thinking I'd be that person who doesn't plan ahead on a night out. I was not only in legal trouble, but I felt deeply ashamed. I was terrified of the consequences at my job. I was at the lowest point in my life. I reached out to Colleen Glenn law firm and met Amy Guin. She immediately took charge of my situation and assured me that although this may feel like the worst thing that has ever happened, everything is going to be okay. She treated me with respect that I did not feel like I deserved. I started to breathe again as she took charge and explained how my charges could be reduced if I followed all of the steps she presented to me. I was 100% committed to doing so. I left her office that day feeling lighter knowing I had her to help me navigate this storm in my life. Each and every time I contacted Amy via email or phone, she responded within a few hours. Amy never left me hanging or feeling alone. I never even had to go to court! She took care of every single legal detail. Yes, she is incredibly brilliant and a compassionate soul who I cannot recommend enough. Hiring Amy was a godsend! Amy is a very knowledgeable and compassionate Attorney who truly cares about her clients. She was a “game changer” for us and gave us hope when we were hopeless against the system. She believes in second chances while holding you accountable. Amy personifies the word “caring”. If you are fortunate enough to have Amy as your Attorney, Advocate or your Friend you are blessed! The world needs more people like Amy who have the compassion, knowledge and skill sets to unravel a complicated system that seemed impossible to understand. A most heartfelt Thank You!!!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bradenton, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
