It is hard enough when your in a car accident and your at a lost to what needs to be done between handling insurance company's, doctors visits, phone calls etc. I called Katherine Neal's office for guidance. Not only did I get the guidance i needed, I got the best personal care from Katherine and her staff that a person could ask for. Everything was explained to me 100% I did not have to deal with anything but my recovery. Highly Recommended!!!!

When I first meet Katherine, she told me Judi, when this case is settled. I want you to purchase something special. I had hired 3 other attorneys that failed to get me results. So, I was fairly skeptical. Katherine helped fight for my rights and turned a very complicated case into, an unexpected Happy Ending. If you are thinking about calling an attorney for a personal injury case, and you see that phone number on the television, I urge you to "STOP". You will be just a number, not a person, and just a fast buck for these law firms. I have experienced this. Now, I am talking from experience, please pick up the phone and call Katherine, and the Carey and Leisure Firm. Not, only did she and the Carey Leisure Firm, get me a more than fair settlement. They truly cared about me and my family. I was always treated with the utmost respect, and kindness. If you are looking for that miracle, Katherine will change your life forever. When they settled my case, just about a month ago. I purchased that something special Katherine asked me to do, I purchased our home, our dream, and we our now on our way to a new journey in our life. If it was not for Katherine and Carey and Leisure Law Firm I would not be starting this new chapter in my life. She is truly a "Miracle Worker". From the bottom of my heart, Thank You Katherine and the Carey and Leisure Family. You will always be a part of my friends, and my family. God Bless

Katherine is an excellent lawyer. This was my first time having to hire a lawyer. I was involved in an auto accident. She was with me every step of the way, advised me each step to be taken and why, provided recommendations and listened to me when I had concerns and/or questions. Explained in detail but to where I understood it. The whole staff was very good.

Katie went above and beyond making sure all my questions were answered and that I was comfortable with every step of the legal process with both my slip and fall and my auto accident. She fought hard for me and never backed down and ultimately got me what I deserved. It was a pleasure working with her!

I had the pleasure of meeting Katherine in September due to a car accident. From Day 1, Katherine and her team made me feel that I was in the right hands with my case. Even though my daily life kept going on, Katherine would always keep me in the loop on what's happening. They truly went above and beyond with their work on my case. I would recommend Katherine and her team to anyone and everyone. I will be spreading their name by word of mouth as well. Hands down this is the attorney that you would like to represent your case. I am very blessed to have had such an amazing attorney. Thank you again for everything you did for me.

I had a long running - 4 years - problem with a business partner involving intellectual property issues and I consulted Alan about this. He was knowledgeable but it was not his area of expertise so he roped in a colleague who specialized in the area. What impressed me is how Alan shepherded the process and kept it on track. He was always on top of actions that needed to be taken and worked actively to keep the billing hours as low as possible. Eventually the strategy he devised with his partner resolved my issue in ninety days. Subsequently I have retained Alan as my attorney for all my business and personal affairs including wills and estate planning and have been very happy with the service I get. An earlier reviewer reported that Alan did not return phone calls and his staff were discourteous. I cannot believe this because my experience has been the exact opposite. I have frequently received a response from Alan to my emails within seconds. His staff is most courteous and eager to help. On one occasion I pointed out an error to his assistant and she felt so bad that Alan called me to find out exactly what had happened. His staff take pride in work well done and he sets the tone himself. I am not competent to evaluate a lawyer's expertise. But I have been around long enough to judge a professional and I am highly confident that Alan is a super attorney - confident in what he knows in the areas in which he specializes, and well connected enough to assemble a competent legal team for whatever problem you are confronting. On one occasion I had a friend who needed legal help in the not-for-profit arena. Alan gave me a recommendation that my friend was thoroughly happy with. Finally, Alan is an attorney and will bill you for his time. But he has also helped many clients in different ways that go way past legal issues. I have met many of these clients personally and their testimonials are the reason I use him as my own attorney.

Alan Gassman was recomended when my wife and I were looking to update our wills. He worked very closely with us on setting up a trust. This was several years ago. We have continued working with him on updating the trust. Alan and his staff got us through an inheritance situation when a relative died and the original will could not be found. We also used his offices for some insurance problems regarding my wife,s mother. He got results when we were getting nowhere with the insurance company. In all cases we have found that he and his staff have always met or exceeded our expectations. My wife and I would be more than happy to recomend Alan Gassman.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Clearwater, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
