Two years ago, I had a real estate issue and visited the firm seeking guidance. Attorney Martha Bolton was gracious as she met with me, listening attentively to understand my situation. Even though she explained that my matter was outside the firm's scope of practice, she provided me with resources leaving me in a far better position than when I showed up just an hour earlier.
That matter has progressed and now encompasses a larger legal scope. Today, I called the office asking to speak with Attorney Bolton. Adam answered the phone (Attorney Adam Rauman, I would later learn from the firm's website), and it was evident from the onset that he was bothered to have to be doing so.
What followed felt more like an interrogation than a conversation, with him interrupting me at least three times in less than as many minutes to 'correct' me.
Adam's attitude, tone, disposition, and overall professional demeanor were absolutely appalling during our conversation - so much so that I'm compelled to warn others, and provide him a stark reminder that he works in a service-based industry.
Having specific legal knowledge doesn't elevate him above others; it simply means he's well-versed in a particular subject, just as we all possess expertise in our own areas.
If client interactions pose such a challenge for Adam, perhaps the firm would be better served by keeping him focused on legal work behind the scenes. A skilled attorney doesn't always translate to a skilled communicator. Prioritizing his strengths while shielding clients from his shortcomings could benefit everyone involved.
In such an esteemed field as the legal profession where compassion and respect are paramount, Attorney Adam Rauman's conduct was not only unprofessional but utterly disgraceful, and stands in stark contrast to my prior positive experience with Attorney Martha Bolton.
