Jessica recently assisted my family and I in a stepparent adoption for my daughter. Because of some unfortunate dynamics surrounding the biological father, I was extremely nervous going into it. Truth be told, I hindered in taking this step for many years solely out of fear. But because of Jessica, my family has been changed forever. Not only did she provide all of the legal support and knowledge necessary to make this experience successful, she offered emotional support and reassurance. After working with Jessica, I can confidently say that she genuinely cares about her clients, and if she gets the chance to represent you, will take you and your entire family sincerely into account. From start to finish, she handled our case brilliantly. With meticulous preparation and purpose, she collected and included all of the facts, continuously anticipating every element possible. She communicated with us regularly, which assisted tremendously in the alleviation of our anxiety. The day of our final hearing was outstanding. Jessica was so utterly thorough in her presentation, there was little to be questioned. She presented our case so appropriately, confirming all the reasons it should have been granted, that it was! My family is forever thankful for Jessica’s commitment to us, and how deeply her efforts have impacted us for the rest of our lives.

Wow...where do I even begin....Jessica Laleh has been nothing but a blessing! I was down and out on my luck, lost ,scared and confused. I went through a really bad divorce years ago which caused me to lose everything and most importantly custody of my son...I had no direction of what to do or what attorney to even trust at this point after many failed attempts to get my son back. That's when I hired Jessica Laleh, I was living out of state at the time but I had faith that she would turn this around and hit a homerun so I can be reunited with my son back in Miami. It wasnt easy at all but she made me feel comfortable, at ease, not stressed because I knew she was working around the clock trying to make it happen. There was times I wanted to give up because it got really really tough but she always remained confident and supportive and never gave up on me. She worked on this for over a year through ups and downs and look...She got me home finally after not being able to see my son for almost 5 years. I am the happiest dad on Gods green earth! I see my son every other weekend and speak to him everyday and enjoy the holidays and birthdays with him! Jessica Laleh is not just any Attorney, she does her job with assertiveness and doesnt hold back! My heart is full and cant thank you enough for what you did for me. I hope you keep changing lives you sure changed mine! I also want to thank Dennis Koltun and your office staff Brian, Lily for also being supportive!! All you dads out there I am living proof that you should never stop fighting for your kids!! Anything is possible with an attorney like Jessica Laleh!!!

Jessica has been a blessing. She was instrumental on preventing my children's relocation to a far away country. Her commitment, superior analytical and strategic skills, hard work, and impeccable ethical standards were all factors that ensured a great outcome. She was absolutely loyal throughout the way, but would also tell me when my expectations were unreal and would keep a reality check on everything. That made me even more confortable from the beginning, because I knew I was working with a very rational, and thorough individual. She definitely demonstrates superior communication skills that not only are very valuable in the court room, but also on your day-to-day interaction with her. I am, and will always be, very thankful to Jessica Laleh, Dennis Koltun, and their law firm for the results, their excellent service, and the care and loyalty in which they handled me as a client. I dealt with other lawyers prior to her and can guarantee that she stands way above them.

Jessica helped me through my divorce process and gave me incredibly accurate and useful advice, as well we walked me step-by-step through the process. I don't know how I could have done it without her. Forever grateful for her guidance in helping me start a new life on the best foot.

Jessica was extremely helpful and patient throughout my divorce, which lasted several months. Even when dealing with situations that could have seemed "ridiculous" in any context, she remained calm and helped me navigate the process. Additionally, she was empathetic and always responded promptly to my questions and concerns.

Mr. Ramirez has handled various issues and transactions for myself and my family. He is the epitome of professionalism and one of the few attorney's in this city that genuinely cares for his clients and does not relent until issues are resolved. I would definitely recommend Mr. Ramirez.

Mr. Tony Mesa is and has always been a 1st Class Act with me. He has always been very helpful in helping me out with whatever I may need now and in the long run. He is an excellent Attorney who really will dedicate his time and effort to try to help others in whatever problems that they may need assistance with. He has helped me personally in the past with little minor issues that i have had to deal with and encounter. Great person , and really good Attorney. I recommend Mr. Mesa to anyone who has been hurt in an accident. He represents injured victims. Great human being as well.

We are fortunate to have had Tony by are side the whole way. I can honestly say his representation went above and beyond. Scott and his team helped my wife and I recover what was properly owed to us by our property insurance company. They have a great network of professional experts and their office staff was professional and courteous. Although the process can be frustrating at times we could always expect a response in a timely manner from Scott or one of the attorney's in the office (2-3 days) if we had a question or a concern about something. We have since repaired our property and would not hesitate to recommend Scott to any of our friends or family.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Coconut Grove, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
