I must say, I am feeling quite emotional and overcome with gratitude as I write this review. I suddenly became very ill in 2015, just as I was excelling at a job I truly enjoyed. Additionally, I was working on my MBA and had lofty career goals. My husband and I, after years of working to put ourselves in a position to buy a house, were finally starting to see a better future on the horizon. I can’t say I know what triggered my illness, but I became extremely ill. I toughed it out for nearly two years, seeking every possible treatment I could find. Finally, my body gave up and I knew I couldn’t push through another day. When I filed a claim with my long-term disability carrier, I expected that coverage to keep me afloat until I (hopefully) healed and could return to work. It didn’t exactly happen that way. Months after denying my claim, the insurance company sent me for an Independent Medical Evaluation and after a thorough examination, the doctor’s report proved sufficient to certify my disability and the denial was reversed. Unfortunately, about 7 months later, I was asked to attend another IME. I will spare you the details, but suffice it to say that the doctor who conducted the IME had already made his judgement before ever having met me. As a result, my claim was closed without warning, leaving me absolutely financially devastated. I wrote letter after letter; filed complaints with every agency I could find think of and yet, the insurance company would not budge. In my arrogance, I had been so convinced that I didn’t need an attorney. I thought, “I’m intelligent enough that I can do this on my own”. I was so wrong! Finally, after calling several local attorneys and being told by snooty receptionists that they either did not handle private LTD claims or being promised a return phone call that never came, I resorted to my old pal, Google. She made me whole again. For that, I owe her a debt of gratitude and I will always consider her a guardian angel of sorts. Please, if you do not think you need an attorney to deal with insurance claims, trust me, you absolutely DO. Save yourself the stress and time that I sacrificed trying to navigate the system alone, and hire yourself someone to advocate for you. For me, Geannina Burgos was the perfect choice, and I highly recommend her services to anyone who is being victimized by the cruelty and indifference of the disability insurance system.

When My LTD company denied my claim, I was at a complete loss as to what to do. Bryn was very professional and informative from the very beginning of my case. I had already been denied twice by my disability insurance company when I contacted Bryn. She immediately came up with a solid game plan to appeal my claim. This was a difficult claim in that it involved a mental health disability. The insurance company was unresponsive at first, but Bryn kept on them, sending correspondence on a regular basis in order to document our attempts to communicate. When the insurance company missed the 90 day deadline to approve / disapprove my claim, Bryn immediately filed a breach of contract suit. Ultimately I was awarded a large retroactive settlement and a continuing settlement through the end of my benefit period. I believe Bryn’s knowledge and persistence was key to getting my settlement. I would highly recommend her to family, friends and others.

More Detail: I started working with Dabdoub law firm in October of 2019. In late 2017 I had gone on disability due to chronic pain from past neck and back injuries/surgeries. I had already battled to switch from STD to LTD, appealed twice, and only succeeded when my employer intervened. Given those things, when I started seeing signs they were working up to another denial I started interviewing lawyers. It is disheartening to fight for coverage you assumed you had secured within your career choices. With most of the lawyers I talked to, there was a feeling they were just going to try to get to settlement and be done with it. This is NOT what you want in a lawyer because they will not push to achieve the best outcome for you individually. They will just check the boxes and try to get you to accept a lowball settlement of which they get anywhere from 25% to 45%, claim their check, and move on without another care. **Please don’t put yourself through that disappointment and strongly consider Dabdoub Law Firm.** I talked and then worked directly with Edward Dabdoub and his team on my claim. What stood out to me right away was his recognizing my disability and validating my concerns. He outlined how they would work to get my denial overturned, but was realistic in explaining the possibility of going to mediation or litigation. He pointed out consistently that everything was my choice as to how we proceeded. Once working with his team I was highly impressed with the magnitude of ways they approached my appeal and overall case. 2020 I have numerous conditions that have gotten worse over the years and it got to a point where I could no longer work. When that time came I filed a claim to receive my disability from Lincoln.
