Rob very successfully represented our family (our son) in a medical malpractice case involving a birth injury where our son suffered brachial plexus at birth. From the very first conversation I had with Rob he was upfront and honest about how difficult cases like ours can be but he was also very reassuring and confident that he could and would get us the justice we deserved. Through the entire process Rob and his firm were truly superior in their handling of our case. I always felt like I was informed and kept up to date on what was going on with the case and if ever I had questions or concerns I could call or email at anytime and always received a prompt response. Rob would take time (at all hours) to call me personally and answer any of my questions and was very reassuring in guiding me through the whole process of the case. Going through the legal process can be daunting and very emotional. With Rob I always felt like he was truly concerned of our understanding of the complex process but more importantly he wanted to make sure we were feeling comfortable and secure with all that was going on. For families suffering through something unexpected like a life altering birth injury it's important to have someone like Rob who can balance being the aggressive lawyer that you want on your case, but who can also identify with, and be empathetic to their client's needs. Although taking on our case and getting a successful outcome was Rob's goal, I never felt like it was just a job for him. Rob truly has a passion and an amazing talent for law. His commitment to his clients is truly unwavering and we are forever grateful for the dedication and care that he put into our son's case. Without a doubt it is because of Rob that our son will have opportunities in life he may not have had and will have the resources he needs to make his disablility less of a hindrance for him.

Robert Boyers was recommended to me to handle my slip and fall case. I will be forever grateful to Robert for allowing me to feel that I was in the ‘best possible hands’ throughout the 2+ year process through and including the settlement of the case. Robert’s expertise, professionalism, and compassion were beyond what I observed in the legal field. And, his associate and staff were a fine reflection of Robert’s guidance. Robert was always available to answer any questions or concerns I had. A unique and very valuable characteristic Robert displayed was realizing almost intuitively when I wasn’t quite sure I understood an issue when he explained something to me. Picking up on my doubt, he would elaborate his answer until he felt I was at peace. As busy a person as I am at work, I value this trait in Robert and I hope he knows he possesses the ability to bring peace of mind to his clients. The outcome of the case was totally pleasing to me – the result of Robert’s and his staff’s constant concern for their client’s well-being, their professionalism, skill and respect for the profession itself.

I hired Mr. Robert Boyers for a wrongful death case involving my father. I wasn’t sure what to do, or procedures to take until I met Mr. Boyers. I can say honestly from my heart I’m very thankful I met this attorney. Losing a father, and feeling lost is the worst feeling anyone would have. Mr. Boyers and his staff was very sincere and compassionate the entire time and then after during my case. Throughout the proceedings I was keep abreast on everything that was happening from the beginning to the end. I cant remember onetime I called Mr. Boyers and he didn’t answer my call or get right back to me. Mr. Boyers provided me with his personal cell phone number just in case I had questions. I pray that I never need to go though another wrongful death case, but if I do Boyers Law Group will be the FIRST I call. My case was resolved and I was very pleased.

I was involved in a malpractice related case and was refereed to Robert trough another attorney. He took care of me, my interests and most importantly the case from day one. Very energetic, smart and aggressive when it comes to litigation and mediation. I am more than appreciative to the end result and that I was lucky enough to have had him referred more in the moment that I did not what to do, who to look for and everything seemed like blur. After everything was over he still has helped me beyond his job by reducing liens and introducing me into a financial advisor to make sure I am protected now and in the future

Frank Maderal helped me collect a lot of money with a lawsuit that started 2019. He worked hard and took care of all the judges orders and more! Through out the years frank and team continued working diligently to settle a class action lawsuit against a big drug company. It was not easy but he kept working with the court until we all finally settled! Thank you Frank you are the best!

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Coral Gables, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
