Alice! I can't say enough about this lawyer. I was going through a very rough patch in my life, both of my parents were declining, our funds were running out, everything was in disarray, I was ready to give up. I didn't know what to do. In comes Alice Reiter Feld and her team! The very first phone call helped ease some of my worry. Everything was taken care of and she kept me in the loop the entire way. If any other issues in my family pop up, god forbid, I will be giving Alice a call. Thanks!

Alice Reiter Feld and her very knowledgeable professional staff helped me relocate my 94-yr old grandmother from a nursing home in New York to Fort Lauderdale. Not only did they take care of the difficult process of closing out her NY Medicaid and applying for it in Florida, they identified and facilitated her entry into a 5-star skilled nursing facility nearby my home. Everything went seemlessly and quickly and I was very impressed with this firm!

Jeffs has helped me through some of the toughest times in my life. Not long ago I was hit by a driver that was texting and she ran a red light and collided with me leaving me with a severely broken arm. Jeff took it to task to help me. He helped me get the right doctors and surgeons. He stood up to the insurance companies that wanted to leave me for dead . And in the end he helped me receive a reward for over 600 thousand dollars. He is an amazing attorney and he is relentless in helping his clients. I would recommend him to anyone that needs help. He has helped me in the past and was very effective in seeing me through every aspect of the process. All this and add that we have become very good friends as well . Next time I need a lawyer there's only 1.number I would consider calling, and that is.my friend Jeff

Jeff helped me out tremendously with my car accident case. I was clueless as to where to start and he helped and kept me informed through the whole process. I am very thankful to have gotten the full benefits from PIP and to have my case settled in a timely manner.

Jeffrey Adelman and staff are the most professional, caring and successful law firm for Personal Injury that I know in Coral Springs! I had a car accident in July 2013. After many doctors, testing, MRI's, etc. Jeffrey decided to pull a trick out of his bag of tricks. Since he was familiar with the co. we were suing, and had filed the lawsuit to go to court, he suggested an early mediation before the Holidays. I thought that was a great idea, to avoid going to trial and settle earlier. The attorney for the Defendant, the insurance co. was a trip. Not very presentable, and a bit nasty. But Jeffrey prepped me in advanced, and warned me that this was not the 'usual' attorney..... So glad he did so I put on my poker face. In the mediation (great mediator btw), after the other attorney tried to belittle me and my injuries, I mentioned why I chose not to have certain treatments, which I thought would affect my health in a very bad way due to the fact that I was allergic to it! That changed the entire case. To my amazement, we were able to settle the case on the spot, I did not deviate from what I wanted, and they agreed! But the most incredible thing about Jeffrey, is that he KEEPS HIS WORD! His word is his bond. He does whatever it takes to settle, and makes arrangements with the docs, etc. to pay off the bills to make sure his clients get what they deserve. I was very happy with my settlement. It took a little bit over a year, but I was very happy. I highly recommend Jeff Adelman and staff. You can count on them to have your back...literally! Thank you so much Jeffrey for making a difference in my family's life and mine. I am forever grateful. I hope I don't need you anytime soon, but if I did, you will be my first call! Thanks again.

Isabel put together a comprehensive Green Card application for me. Her approach was extremely detailed. When USCIS requested additional information, she promptly responded. As a result of her representation, I was awarded my GC. I plan to hire Isabel again when it is time for me to apply for citizenship.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Coral Springs, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
