Pros
1
Excellent legal expertise and advocacy
“Nancy is the real deal. Trust me she is the best attorney there is and she knows what it takes to win.”
2
Dedicated and compassionate service
“Nancy is very good at what she does. She is honest & has her client's best interests in mind.”
3
Effective communication and responsiveness
“Nancy kept me informed about the progress of the case, and negotiated a very favorable settlement in the end.”
4
Reasonable and transparent fees
“My wife and I had a lot of issues that had to be resolved, and Ms. Brodzki was very helpful to me throughout the process in giving me advice on how to handle the day to day problems that come up during the divorce. I felt like she did a better job than my wife's attorney and yet I paid less in fees than my wife did.”
5
Successful case outcomes
“Nancy fought tooth and nail and got my kids back, then won the custody case here and got me full custody of my kids since my ex-wife can't be trusted not to leave with them.”
Cons
1
Non-refundable retainer policy
“Nancy's retainers are nonrefundable in other words if you give her a retainer of $7500 and she does $4000 of billable work she will not give you back the money that was not utilized for services that is something in my opinion that is unethical even if it is legal.”
2
Occasional issues with responsiveness and availability
“Sadly, I must say that Nancy was to represent me in a divorce and I had much more anxiety dealing with her and her office than my ex husband. I found her to be extremely unresponsive. Emails ignored and phone calls not returned.”

There is much to be said about the type of lawyer you hire and the one your spouse hires. The original attorney my wife had was terrible and what should have been a fairly quick process turned into a long drawn out fiasco. Then she hired Nancy Brodzki. After this happened things went very smoothly. Nancy worked with my attorney and everything was settled in a short amount of time. Not all lawyers are for resolution that is good for everyone, some are just out to collect. I thought Nancy, along with my attorney just looked at us as people and wanted to work out things that would make everyone rest a little easier. I would recommend her to anyone, that is of course if my attorney wasn't available. :-)

The Brodzki Jacobs team was FANTASTIC! It is not just Nancy. They were very efficient, well organized and professional. They were patient and sympathetic to my needs as I processed my personal situation yet Nancy was never shy about being direct with me when I needed it by always helping me do what was best for the kids. I was always the weakest link in the chain (something I am not used to). They were highly recommended to me by two separate industry professionals I know as "the best but not the cheapest". I am glad I trusted the recommendations and let the Brodzki Jacobs team guide me through the difficult process. Ultimately, they did not waste my time/money. The process was swift and the overall cost at the end was well within normal expectations. Big thanks to Nancy, Tayane, Roberta, Misha and the rest of the team. I do not plan the get married and divorced again but if I do, I know who to call.

Sadly, I must say that Nancy was to represent me in a divorce and I had much more anxiety dealing with her and her office than my ex husband. I found her to be extremely unresponsive. Emails ignored and phone calls not returned. I paid a $7500 retainer not realizing that there is a clause stating that the balance would not be returned if unused. It was so difficult to deal with the Brodzki Jacobs office that I fired them and plan to finish the divorce proceedings myself. Just too difficult to deal with her office. It was taking forever due to Nancy's many vacation days, out of office commitments and excuses for being unavailable. And was VERY annoyed that they would not return my unused balance on account. It's legal for them to have a no refund clause but certainly not nice or widely done that way. Would steer clear of this firm.

Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness, Value My wife and I recently separated and divorced what is of the upmost importance to us was and always has been keeping it cordial keeping it respectable and doing the right thing for the children Nancy Brodzki was not my attorney she was the attorney of my wife. we settled very amicably but there are a few things you need to be aware of with Nancy. Nancy’s retainers are nonrefundable in other words if you give her a retainer of $7500 and she does $4000 of billable work she will not give you back the money that was not utilized for services that is something in my opinion that is unethical even if it is legal. We initially wanted to do a collaborative divorce which is a specific methodology that Nanci is certified in however since my wife and I agreed that this would be civil and fair we decided not to do and go forward with the collaborative process. Our kids are older and we didn’t see the need to do a collaborative divorce instead we made it very clear that we would do the right thing by each other we did this from the beginning and communicated this to Nanci in my humble opinion it was at this point that Nanci should have said I don’t think we’ll need the $7500 as a retainer but that never happened instead Nancy kept the money she refused to refund the retainer that was not used for the services she didn’t perform instead she offered to provide additional services in a future divorce hearing that seems a little ridiculous to me. But worst of all we should’ve known better and Andrea under a difficult time did sign the agreement and was aware that the retainer was not refundable sometimes in moments of stress we don’t pay so much attention to every detail and that is on us. My main objective in writing this review is to make you aware that Nanci does non-refundable retainers you should know that before you sign any agreement ask her about it and she’ll tell you but also ask her what happens when you don’t utilize all of the retainer who keeps the money. I want to make this clear that I am the ex-husband of Nanci‘s client who is my ex wife. One final thing look for a review shortly from my ex-wife that speaks to other issues re Nancy that lack professionalism, communication, follow up and total disregard for the client that has nothing to do with the retainer policy mentioned. Note, pardon spelling and grammar as I used dictation ap.

I was referred to Nancy Brodzki because she is a top attorney in her field and she would give me the best advice. After our meeting it was apparent that I was already financially strapped and I would not be able to afford her services past our initial meeting. Nancy was kind enough to help me navigate the legalese and bureaucracy of our legal system for one very reasonable flat fee! Although there was a lot of work on my part regarding how things worked and navigating Legal Aid, she was there to set my mind at ease, guide me and assure me I was on the right path. I highly recommend Nancy not only because of the many titles she holds, but because of her compassion in dealing with matters that are extremely raw and personal!

I hired Carol Solomon when I was going through my divorce . This was the best thing that ever happened to me. She worked on my behalf and I was able to relax. She can be reached whenever you need her or your phone call will be returned within a reasonable time. I was informed of every decision that was made and also received phone calls to make sure I was ok. As women we need more lawyers like her. I walked out of the courtroom with what I deserved.

I'm a middle aged guy. I only mention that because no matter how optimistic your point of view, the margin of error for mistakes in judgement shrinks as you get older. It's like a pilot who couldn't successfully get out of a stahl, just because he was too close to the ground. He knew what to do, but there just wasn't enough time to recover (I fly a Cesna 152). I recently signed a contract to sell my house. In the weeks prior to the closing date, I got a sobering understanding of the state of the real estate market. Houses were absurdly expensive. Sure I sold my house for good money. But now what ? Too late though, I signed a binding contract. Can't get out of this stahl, not this time. The buyer was paying cash, and already had $250K in the escrow. This is as a done deal, right ? As it turns out on the day of closing, there was a discrepancy or misunderstanding on the buyers side, which my very astute escrow attorney pointed out. I was referred to attorney Richard Gaines. Since time was of the essence, he was communicating with my escrow agent and buyers attorney within the hour. That same day, he wrote a detailed email complete with contractual references. The buyers attorney had our very well written position within a couple of hours the day of the closing. I was impressed with my attorneys swift analysis, strategy and execution. By the end of the week, I was released from the contract and got my house back ! I highly recommend Richard Gaines as a skilled and effective advocate in time of need.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Coral Springs, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
