I highly recommend the law office of Chanfrau & Chanfrau. They represented me during one of the hardest times of my life. No parent expects to bury a child and nothing can prepare a mother for a loss of that magnitude. Over the span of three years the people in this firm became not only my lawyers, but my friends. It was such a horrible sad time for me and my children and they never lost sight of that. At no time did I feel like I was just another case. I always felt that they understood the devastation that my family had suffered. They are honest; they always told me the truth but also offered me reassurance when I became overwhelmed with it all. They explained everything to me so I understood what was going on and could make informed decisions. I truly trusted Mr. Chanfrau and his firm and I do not trust easily. I have never liked attorneys. My past experience with them was that they charged you for everything, sounded good at the beginning, and then you never got past the receptionist. Mr. Chanfrau and his firm changed all that. Everyone in his firm participated in my case. Phone calls were answered promptly and emails answered immediately. They met with me in my home and worked around the schedule of a busy, single working mother. I never once in three years had to call or email about anything more than once. They were amazing. While my loss was not theirs, they certainly treated me as though they understood how I felt and how my other children felt. I knew that whatever decisions they were making were in my best interest. I wish things had been different and I had not needed them at all, but the unthinkable happened and I feel blessed that I was directed to Mr. Chanfrau. I would not have wanted to go through the legal process with anyone but him and his firm.

I am proud I was able to be a client of Bill Chanfrau, Sr. I was involved in an automobile accident case and he was able to negotiate an ample award. He is honest, hard-working, an excellent communicator, and negotiator. His office staff is superb. I cannot provide enough accolades.

In August of 2011, my husband and I were involved in an automobile accident when we were rear ended by a large truck on one of the most heavily traveled highways in our area. Attorney William Chanfrau and his office staff were completely committed to my case from the day I first met in their office. The day of my deposition , with my Attorney at my side, was the turning point in getting this case settled with me being compensated for my injuries which included a major heart attack and the placement of 2 stents in my heart. My husband was ill at the time of the accident and his condition worsened quickly from that day forward. He passed away on October 17, 2013. The very well known large corporation whose name appeared on this truck had this case drag on almost 3 years, but my Attorney worked diligently and the case was settled with me getting the settlement amount I felt I deserved. I would certainly seek help from Attorney William Chanfrau in the future if needed

We have worked together and against all members of Chanfrau & Chanfrau over the years. We have found them to be exceptionally qualified in all areas of personal injury work and to provide a personal touch to each of their clients that is often neglected. I have seen them go above and beyond that which is usually expected with every client. I consider them to be the premier plaintiffs’ attorneys in Volusia County.

My first time to Daytona Bike Week, in 2004. I rode on the back because I was a new rider and wanted to enjoy the experience from the back. Not 24 hours into my vacation, a riderless V8 motorcycle builder lost control of his bike, which hit a truck just in front of us, then careened off and hit us as we were all but still at a red light. I remember waking up in the hospital as the Dr. told me he'd fixed my elbow and now had to prepare to take my leg. That was not happening. When my family arrived, the Dr. came in to talk to us, and, we asked him if he could recommend a local attorney. His first recommendation was Bill Chanfrau, Sr. What impressed me and my family, was that he was a Christian, and he was active in local community groups. We contacted his office, and their team came to meet with me in the hospital, took thorough information, documenting my physical condition via video. They were most respectful and professional. Roxie Courson was at that first meeting, and she was also most helpful navigating me through this long case. If it had not been for the Chanfraus, I would have received nothing, after a broken arm was put back together with plates and screws, and losing my leg. It was their team who investigated and tracked down every lead, to eventually find a way to get me compensation. While no amount of money will ever bring back my leg or restore my physical health, if it were not for their hard work and representation, I may have received nothing. They persevered when the responsible party filed bankruptcy, uncovered every stone, and followed up on a tip from a good Samaritan, which ultimately led to a settlement. Today, because of the settlement, Roxie's guidance toward a monthly annuity, I was able to retire due to advanced physical problems, and am able to pay my bills and live without a struggle. As I said at the proceedings, I'd gladly give back every cent to have my leg again. But reality is what it is, and it would be much more difficult without the financial help Bill Chanfrau Sr., and his team, got for me. This team is top notch. Bill Sr. is caring and compassionate, and was so helpful to not only me, but my family as well. I'm grateful they were referred to me. It's important to me also, that sometimes, law firms will 'chase' after injured parties. Bill and his team, were and are, professional, courteous, helpful. I will always give them nothing but kudos, and refer anyone who asks to Bill and his team.

Bill Gambert helped me with an eviction in a squatter situation that lasted over a year. There were many hurdles to leap over and he was steadfast and reliable. I hired him a second time for a legal name change that also was complicated and required many filings and re-filings with the court. His staff was always friendly and available to return my calls to update me on the status of my case. I can highly recommend William Gambert and his assistant, Sheila, without reservation.

I contacted Mr. Gambert through a referral of the Florida Bar Referral Network. This network refers you to attorneys for a low to no cost consultation. After briefly speaking with the receptionist on the phone, Mr. Gambert connected with me. After hearing my story, he gave me some simple advice to resolve my situation. He freely answered any questions that I had. I felt confident that his advice was strong, however if I do need additional assistance in the matter, I feel confident in having him represent me.

Very factual and straightforward at initial meeting. Walked you through steps involved, fees to be considered, time line for each action required, best case scenerio and worst case scenerio, then his fee amount. Asked questions to get case started. Surrounds self with those that are knowledgable in the area of law needed to expedite and win your case. Very professional.

My wife was shopping ,was in good mental health and reasonably good physical health, when all of a sudden, she was on her back unable to get up. She sustained a concussion that gave her brain bleed that has affected not only her short term memory but a good deal of her long term memory. In order to seek compensation for our loss I began to seek a good lawyer. One that had a had a good standing with judges. I asked my neighbor, who worked for a judge, for a recommendation. He in turn asked the circuit judge who in turn recommended Mr. Kolodinsky. This was one of the few smart things I have done in my life. Mr.Kolodinsky always was very courteous as was his office and always had time to explain things to me. I am satisfied that I had as good and speedy a conclusion as could be expected

I have for years referred complicated personal injury cases, including medical malpractice to Rick Kolodinsky. When I was injured in an accident and my UM carrier made a "low ball" offer, I retained Rick, who filed suit and got me an excellent recovery. In addition to his professional success, Rick is a great guy who is easy to talk to about may subjects.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Daytona Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
