Carol has a gifted talent to represent her clients with pinpoint accuracy of the issues at hand and to navigate through complex VA processes and cases involving veterans' claims for service connected disabilities. I was low balled for several years by the VA which exacerbated to the max my traumatic disabilities, resulting in being jobless, homeless and "ambition less". Living in a shelter with my 8 yr old daughter alone, I reached the rock bottom of my life. This was not the American dream that I signed up for!!! Then one day I made that dreaded phone call and I cannot be thankful enough to the Almighty that I was talking to Carol Ponton. The moment I connected with Carol, she took charge of my claims, and turned tables on VA with the award winning performance of the decade. Never in a million years I would have thought of what Carol and her team did for me, not even my own close family. I can write a whole novel on this amazing lady, but I am constraint to few thousand words on this platform. Carol's remarkable attention to details and dedication to her relentless work are the professional traits what sets her apart from other competing attorneys. Besides being an outstanding "experienced" attorney for 47 years, she possess a genuine and a captivating smile, which is a rare attribute in the legal world. Carol is what you see; a humble, loving and a caring person yet simultaneously aggressive, relentless, and result driven attorney. Thank you Carol, for your support and all your hard work. God Bless You !!

Ms. Ponton worked diligently, thoroughly and her knowledge on VA law is outstanding. I had unsuccessfully fought the V.A. for over 40 years with disappointment after disappointment. I found Ms Ponton and she took my case. She was able to present my case to the V.A. in ways I had not been successful. I honestly think Ms. Ponton loves Vets and takes each case to heart. She is an outstanding attorney and a "Woman of Integrity" If your fortunate enough to have her in your corner, no one can represent you better or with more devotion to her client! Thank you Ms. Ponton!

She has faithfully executed her duties on my behalf and has provided me with representation exceeding my expectations. By using superior communication skills and timely responsive replies to my questions, I'm always aware and have a feeling of control for my claims. I know she’s always truthful in her dealings and I’m receiving competent assistance with my benefit claims. I strongly recommend her to represent any/all veterans wanting or requiring assistance with the bureaucracy to expedite the VA claims process. Having problems with a legitimate VA claim call her, she can help

I've been using the Lankford Law Firm for many years for business law and contract review. I've had only great experiences with Attorney Melody Lankford and the staff. They have a way of making complex legal issues easier for me to understand. The entire team is attentive and helpful and I highly recommend them.

I consulted with Mrs. Lankford on a contract from my employer. She was thorough, very compassionate, and knowledgeable. It gave me the confidence and peace of mind that I needed that I was signing a fair contract. She also gave me a great referral for health insurance.

Bill Gambert helped me with an eviction in a squatter situation that lasted over a year. There were many hurdles to leap over and he was steadfast and reliable. I hired him a second time for a legal name change that also was complicated and required many filings and re-filings with the court. His staff was always friendly and available to return my calls to update me on the status of my case. I can highly recommend William Gambert and his assistant, Sheila, without reservation.

I contacted Mr. Gambert through a referral of the Florida Bar Referral Network. This network refers you to attorneys for a low to no cost consultation. After briefly speaking with the receptionist on the phone, Mr. Gambert connected with me. After hearing my story, he gave me some simple advice to resolve my situation. He freely answered any questions that I had. I felt confident that his advice was strong, however if I do need additional assistance in the matter, I feel confident in having him represent me.

Very factual and straightforward at initial meeting. Walked you through steps involved, fees to be considered, time line for each action required, best case scenerio and worst case scenerio, then his fee amount. Asked questions to get case started. Surrounds self with those that are knowledgable in the area of law needed to expedite and win your case. Very professional.

My wife was shopping ,was in good mental health and reasonably good physical health, when all of a sudden, she was on her back unable to get up. She sustained a concussion that gave her brain bleed that has affected not only her short term memory but a good deal of her long term memory. In order to seek compensation for our loss I began to seek a good lawyer. One that had a had a good standing with judges. I asked my neighbor, who worked for a judge, for a recommendation. He in turn asked the circuit judge who in turn recommended Mr. Kolodinsky. This was one of the few smart things I have done in my life. Mr.Kolodinsky always was very courteous as was his office and always had time to explain things to me. I am satisfied that I had as good and speedy a conclusion as could be expected

I have for years referred complicated personal injury cases, including medical malpractice to Rick Kolodinsky. When I was injured in an accident and my UM carrier made a "low ball" offer, I retained Rick, who filed suit and got me an excellent recovery. In addition to his professional success, Rick is a great guy who is easy to talk to about may subjects.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Daytona Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
