Mr. Jose Lorenzo would be my FIRST choice for an estate planning Attorney and I will tell you why he should be yours too! I would give him 10+ stars if I could! He did an amazing job for our family a few years ago and we couldn’t be happier. What a stress reliever it was to hire him to create my Father’s complete estate plan. We had no idea about a 5-year law with moving assets prior to him entering an assisted living facility (ALF) and because of Mr. Lorenzo’s expertise I am happy to report that now that our dad is in an Assisted Living Facility because of the plan Mr. Lorenzo into place we have been able to keep all of the assets within our family. This is what my father had always wanted — to leave his legacy and with Mr. Lorenzo’s help we have been able to fulfill my Dad’s wishes. I knew that with him going into an ALF there could be a chance of us having to “liquidate” (cash out, basically) his ENTIRE estate to pay for the ALF. Our family would have been left with nothing. We only learned “the hard way” when my mother passed some years back and before that happened we had to cash-out or “liquidate” ALL of her assets to pay for her end of life care and even the ALF when she needed more care than we could give her bc we all work even though she was perfectly healthy and only had problems with her hips. I didn’t know about the 5-year law until after our consult with this attorney. We ended up planning my Father’s estate in the nick of time bc 5 years later now he has just entered an ALF and had we waited only a few more months ALL of his assets would have been liquidated for his current care and just like with what happened to my mom years ago we would have nothing. Now, WE can also use money from his estate to care for him with any needed “extras” while he is there and still have an inheritance leftover when, God forbid, he passes. Now, instead of what happened to my mom’s estate (they were divorced years before so he still has his own assets) but WE are now in the driver’s seat of where and how to spend his money. What a relief this has all been and I was fearful about the cost but oh, my gosh! The money and the inheritance we have ended up protecting (2 beach front properties and his former home) made it worth the cost a thousand-fold. We have been able to rent out the 2 beach front properties as airbnb’s and then have a tenant in his former home in Clermont. So not only have we been able to KEEP his entire estate for his care and a later inheritance for our family but we now have a form of “passive income” renting his beach property and we still have those assets to add to the estate! It’s a win-win! If you are hesitant to hire an attorney at the end of the day you will most likely lose A LOT of potential inheritance and that will be way more than the cost of pre-planning the estate, trust me! This is what we learned after my mom’s situation. And Mr. Lorenzo was very responsive to any questions we had and I knew he would be great at explaining it all just based on his website. It’s like he spells it all out even for a non-legal person to understand and this is exactly how he communicates in person. We “interviewed” several other attorneys through free consultations but we knew HE was the one after our first meeting. I would never hesitate to hire him again, in fact we are soon doing a trust for our special needs daughter who is currently a minor but we worry about when we are “gone.” We want to leave her in the BEST situation possible and we briefly discussed the importance of doing the estate planning. Technically, our estate planning will be for her father and I but OUR assets will go directly to her and help her in the future and they won’t have to be liquidated like my mother’s. I honestly don’t know why more Floridians don’t do estate planning. I highly recommend Mr. Lorenzo and I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for our family and the peace of mind is immeasurable. Thank you so much for everything you will do for us and what you have done for us. I cannot thank you enough.
