By far the BEST lawyer there is. I found Kristy on the internet and her Avvo rating really doesn't do her any justice. If it were up to real quality of service and knowledge she should be rated a full 10/10 and here's why: 1. She was very professional and punctual. 2. She's extremely knowledgeable. I researched everything about my issue inside out so I know the law pretty well. I asked her couple of trick questions to see if she'd know the answer and she nailed it all the way. 3. I found a book that she helped to write about constitutional law and Avvo didn't even pick it up. 4. Between 2 DUIs (not proud but hey it happened), divorce and a bunch of corporate stuff I've dealt with many lawyers in my life. Kristy is by far the best. 5. I've read from her many reviews elsewhere that people wished all lawyers were like her. And I now do as well. Hire Kristy, you won't regret it.

Kristy (or Mengyun) is the best lawyer I've ever had! I feel very ashamed of saying this, but I have delt with at least 10 lawyers in my life, from DWI, divorce, personal injury, inheritance dispute, to immigration matters. Therefore I've become very cautious in hiring lawyers. After interviewing a bunch of lawyers Kristy was the one for me. And she didn't let me down. She was professional, respectful and responsive from the very first call. She kept me informed the whole way during my case and she always always answered my emails and phone calls and text messages within hours and I got very favorable results! The best I could hope for! I'm a very happy client and I will refer Kristy to anyone I know without hesitation!

Ms. Q is the best lawyer every. She truly cares about her clients, she helped my entire family. I first found her in 2010 when my mother was in need of legal advice. After my mother, she helped my aunt, my uncle, my cousins, and my grandmother. Eventually I got myself in some trouble too and I had to go to Ms. Q as well. She is very knowledgeable, respectful, friendly, timely and got us the best results we could hope for. My entire family loves her. I'm not exagerating when I say that she's now the go to lawyer for my entire family and we wouldn't trust anyone else.

Ms. Q is extremely professional, responsive, reliable, knowledgeable and she always kept me informed. I had visited many attorneys before deciding to go with Ms. Q. Other attorneys kept me waiting over 30 minutes after my appointment time because they needed their morning coffee, they were late to their meeting, some of them advised me to commit fraud, others simply didn't care enough to speak with me for more than 10 minutes. Ms. Q on the other hand, apologized for being "late" because I arrived early to my 7:30 AM appointment and she walked in after me. When I said you're not late, we're still 15 minutes before my appointment she responded "I'm late if my client gets here before me, doesn't matter if it's 7:15 AM." Right there, I was sold! On top of that she took her time to explain everything to me in detail, answered all my questions, it was night and day compared to the experience I had with other attorneys. She handled my case swiftly and was always informing me everything as it happened. I'm glad I found her.

From the very first call, I knew I picked the right firm. No question was too much. Every question was answered in a timely fashion. Each time I desired a change to something, I received sound easy to understand responses that helped me decide how important my original request was or was not. Bottom line, Chelsea and Hillary were both fantastic. I rarely do reviews so that the fact that I did this one should really tell you something.

Had an issue with former landlord and return of my security deposit. Contacted Scarnecchia Mullin and within 2 days Hillary had reviewed my situation, provided excellent advice and counsel on how to proceed. She also drafted and sent a letter to the landlord which resulted in an amicable resolution to my issue within 1 week. I was not expecting the quick turnaround time and resolution. I highly recommend this firm for their responsiveness, thoroughness and results.

I hired Cliff and his firm to handle a very complicated case after my business partner died. We had to aggressively but smartly get the company back from a bitter but sympathetic widow who would have driven the company and its employees into the ground. So thankful I hired a Cliff and Wolff Law. Got a result I never thought possible. Better than ever expected. All because of a smart strategy from the very beginning.

Mr. Wolff was able to give me sound advice and help me out with a very difficult and touchy situation. He also was able to handle the very aggressive opposing attorney handsomely, so that the matter could be concluded with a minimum of stress and a great result. I will definitely call on him again when I need legal help and have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to friends and business associates.

I recently hired Zach to assist me with a contract. Not only is he knowledgeable, intelligent, and highly competent when it comes to entertainment/sports/business/contract law, he was able to articulate everything in a very succinct and easy to understand way. I would recommend Zach to anyone who needs a transactional attorney!

My wife and I own a sports agency. We were introduced to Zach through a close personal friend. He really impressed us with his knowledge of law. We hired him as our general counsel for the agency. Little did we know that we would have to use his services within a month of us hiring him. We had an age/ identity dispute with a prospective client in the Dominican Republic. I tried to resolve the issue by myself but kept getting the runaround from the main MLB office. I let Zach know that I wasn't getting anywhere with the issue and let him take over. Within 48 hours he had the issue resolved and we were able to have the player eligible to sign with any big league team. In another instance we had an issue with a marketing company and one of our clients. I had Zach and his father Leon take care of the situation with their expertise in that type of law. They had a very aggressive approach while protecting the agency and myself. At the end of this particular situation I was very pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend the Margules Law Firm.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Lauderdale, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
