Persistent and resolute in advocating for clients
“Suzanne is the consummate professional, immediately got up to date on the case and was able to reach an agreement before court, after 4 years of litigation and abuse by my initial attorney.”
3
Provides excellent legal advice and guidance
“Suzanne provided me with excellent legal advice and services. Far from ordinary and very conscientious, she performs her job with diligence and respect.”
4
Dedicated and responsive to clients
“Suzanne returned my calls and emails as late as 10 pm and weekends!! What other family attorney works nights and weekends for someone, especially someone with a discounted hourly rate!?”
5
Effective in court and highly regarded by opponents
“In court, Suzanne was professional but a PIT BULL!! I have heard rumors that people she has gone up against in court and beaten, have actually recomended her! She is that good!!”
Cons
1
Lack of communication and responsiveness at times
“Suzanne being in such demand ( I looked up her success rate) explained that she gives ALL her clients equal attention; that if I did not hear back from her immediately, the only reason was that she physically could not!”
2
Significant legal fees that can be difficult to afford
“First of all, I explained that I just could not afford the fee; she offered $50 off per hour! I was greatful (and accepted) as Suzanne explained in detail exactly what my retainer was for and how fast it would be eaten up and why and then gave me an accurate estimate of what my particular case was going to cost.”
3
Possible inconsistency in quality of service
“Did very little for me, charged me an arm and leg for virtually nothing. Extremely poor communication skills.”

Suzanne has helped me through one of the most difficult and challenging times in my life. She represented me through a difficult paternity case and she expressed genuine concerns and was very emphatic towards my situation. She advised me on how to navigate through all the confusing legal matters. It was so overwhelming but she assured me that we'll get through it. Suzanne is a very busy person and I wasn't always able to reach her at times but she always returned my calls, emails, and text messages on the same day including weekends. She's a good listener and will fight for what's best for you and your child. I look forward to working with her again if I should need legal services in the future.

I have had the privilege of having Suzanne Williams as my Attorney in my child custody case. Suzanne's friendship, courtesy, knowledge and honesty have been very important to me during the last two years as she has represented me. Suzanne provided me with excellent legal advice and services. Far from ordinary and very conscientious, she performs her job with diligence and respect. I cannot say enough. Suzanne is a high performance lawyer. Without her advice, I am certain I would have been overwhelmed with the confusion of detail only lawyers can understand. When asked, Suzanne thoroughly described every minute detail with patience. Her knowledge and command of the material were impeccable. No-nonsense, straight to the point and very professional. I highly recommend Suzanne without any reservations.

We hired Suzanne Williams to defend us in a domestic violence case about 1 year ago. She is an amazing person and an unbelievable attorney. Always consulted with us and truly explain everything to us clearly. She is straight forward and always had our best interest at heart. The case is on going still but for the moment we have some peace of mind and can rest easy. I always feel that she has our back and looks out for my family. I would recommend Suzanne to all my friends and family and to anyone who is in need of a wonderful family attorney. So happy that she is on our side.

Ms Williams was my attorney for divorce she did not return calls, nor did she protect me when we made an agreement. She bumped up my bill by thousands of dollars and I ended up in debt. I got away from her as fast as I could but not fast enough. I did all my own research , paperwork and delivered it to her under the impression she was trying to save me money because of my situation. Terrible experience.

From the very first call, I knew I picked the right firm. No question was too much. Every question was answered in a timely fashion. Each time I desired a change to something, I received sound easy to understand responses that helped me decide how important my original request was or was not. Bottom line, Chelsea and Hillary were both fantastic. I rarely do reviews so that the fact that I did this one should really tell you something.

Had an issue with former landlord and return of my security deposit. Contacted Scarnecchia Mullin and within 2 days Hillary had reviewed my situation, provided excellent advice and counsel on how to proceed. She also drafted and sent a letter to the landlord which resulted in an amicable resolution to my issue within 1 week. I was not expecting the quick turnaround time and resolution. I highly recommend this firm for their responsiveness, thoroughness and results.

I hired Cliff and his firm to handle a very complicated case after my business partner died. We had to aggressively but smartly get the company back from a bitter but sympathetic widow who would have driven the company and its employees into the ground. So thankful I hired a Cliff and Wolff Law. Got a result I never thought possible. Better than ever expected. All because of a smart strategy from the very beginning.

Mr. Wolff was able to give me sound advice and help me out with a very difficult and touchy situation. He also was able to handle the very aggressive opposing attorney handsomely, so that the matter could be concluded with a minimum of stress and a great result. I will definitely call on him again when I need legal help and have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to friends and business associates.

I recently hired Zach to assist me with a contract. Not only is he knowledgeable, intelligent, and highly competent when it comes to entertainment/sports/business/contract law, he was able to articulate everything in a very succinct and easy to understand way. I would recommend Zach to anyone who needs a transactional attorney!

My wife and I own a sports agency. We were introduced to Zach through a close personal friend. He really impressed us with his knowledge of law. We hired him as our general counsel for the agency. Little did we know that we would have to use his services within a month of us hiring him. We had an age/ identity dispute with a prospective client in the Dominican Republic. I tried to resolve the issue by myself but kept getting the runaround from the main MLB office. I let Zach know that I wasn't getting anywhere with the issue and let him take over. Within 48 hours he had the issue resolved and we were able to have the player eligible to sign with any big league team. In another instance we had an issue with a marketing company and one of our clients. I had Zach and his father Leon take care of the situation with their expertise in that type of law. They had a very aggressive approach while protecting the agency and myself. At the end of this particular situation I was very pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend the Margules Law Firm.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Lauderdale, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
