I contacted Paul Finizio and the Finizio Law Group after a recommendation from a close friend. Paul answered the phone quickly, and, after amiable introductions, we scheduled a time to discuss my personal injury and the role he and the Finizio Law Group could play if I elect their services. I have never filed a claim of personal injury. I was averse to the idea, because, as a college student, I worried that filing a claim would complicate my focus on scholastic endeavors. After talking with my parents, I moved forward with the Finizio Law Group. My worries were misplaced. The team at the Finizio Law Group had conducted themselves efficiently and routinely detailed the progress of my claim despite instances in which contacting me was difficult. Sending documents to them was easy, because the accepted various forms of communication. In terms of communication, I was not the greatest client; however, Paul always remained kind and always motivated me with each call. He supported me during a time in my life in which the injury obscured the path I chose to follow to my future. I appreciated the fact that I could take the backseat while Paul filed claims and litigated, because my focused myself on adapting to the changes that occurred and finding my direction again. I will always thank Paul and the team, because their work has added to the security of my future and family’s future. There are few ways to express my gratitude for that.

I recently contacted Paul Finizio to consult with me on a current case. He made time in his busy schedule to meet with me ASAP and he took the time to explain the legal options that were available to me. Paul is a man of integrity, a man of principle and a man of compassion. I highly recommend him as an attorney.

Paul and Nathalie(his paralegal) were so helpful with my case, a car accident where I was not at fault. I called them the day I got in the accident and from that point forward, Nathalie handled everything from top to bottom including talking with the insurance companies and negotiating medical bills and helping me with appointments. The day I got in the accident it was a total nightmare but Nathalie and Paul made everything so much less stressful than I thought it would be. Any time I needed an update on the case, Paul and Nathalie would always provide it for me. The case took a while to settle thanks to the insurance company (not naming names) but Paul and Nathalie came to mediation with me, helped me stay relaxed and gave me reassurance throughout the entire process. I am happy with the way everything turned out and if you are looking for true professionalism and diligence in your case I would highly recommend using this office. Thank you again!

This is the last firm I would recommend anyone to call after an accident! I was hit head-on by a drunk driver in Miami and referred to Paul Finizio of Finizio & Finizio Law in Fort Lauderdale by attorney, Chris Salamone (former partner of attorney, Scott Rothstein). This turned out to be a decision so heavily regretted! Paul Finizio missed several of my own court appearances, which was very concerning! One court date, he even went so far as to send an attorney that was not even from his firm but was just a casual friend of his, who did not know anything about my case or the drunk driver who hit me head-on, to show up in his place. I found this to be very odd at my own court hearing when I had expected my own attorney to be there! I had also just had a very serious surgery so had really wanted him to there; not some stranger who knew nothing of my case at all. While the first part of my personal injury case settled quickly only because I (MYSELF) requested BMW preserve the recorded onstar confession of the drunk driver admitting to being drunk at the time of hitting my vehicle, my case with Finizio and Finizio Law was ongoing due to my UM (UnderInsured Motorist) Policy and a potential Bad Faith Claim. Finizio & Finizio Law continued to work on the UM portion of my case as I underwent more than 20 (twenty) surgical procedures, including a life-threatening internal bleeding situation, only to find out that my medical records that I had been zealously forwarding to my law firm after every procedure with a spreadsheet of all appointments were NEVER ever sent to my insurance adjuster over the last two (2) years! While all my email correspondences with Finizio Law confirmed that they were in communication with USAA all this entire time (my insurance company), it was not until I decided to call USAA myself last week that I learned that Finizio & Finizio Law, under the supervision of Paul Finizio, has not been in contact with USAA even ONCE in 2018 and I learned this at the end of November of 2018 and recorded the phone call with two-party consent. But wait- there's more!! USAA actually closed my case in March 2018 due to "Lack of Attorney Response" and when I asked my lawyer, Finizio claims to not have even known it was closed! (Yet, their emails all year said they were in touch with my adjuster all year (which of course I have saved and documentatee)... and then I spoke to my insurance adjuster who confirmed he had not spoken or received any mail, fax, phone or email correspondence (not even ONCE) from my lawyer or firm this year (2018)!! Seems they had mislead me and mis-informed me from the truth all year! Then, I asked Finizio if there was some kind of prejudice or bias because of the prior incident in which I asked to communicate only with a female in his office), to learn why I, as a client, had been treated so negligently. I'm still waiting for that answer. As a female, I'd especially warn clients to steer VERY clear from this law firm. This is not a safe or efficient law office that I would recommend anyone to go to. They often take weeks to respond to any call or emails, even when "URGENT" in the subject line, which goes completely against Florida Bar's statutes on how attorneys should communicate with active clients (The Florida Bar's website clearly states that your attorney must respond within 48 hours and if they don't, they must respond in writing within 7 days WHY they didn't! Not professional, efficient or ethical! Be warned!! Choose a different firm!

From the very first call, I knew I picked the right firm. No question was too much. Every question was answered in a timely fashion. Each time I desired a change to something, I received sound easy to understand responses that helped me decide how important my original request was or was not. Bottom line, Chelsea and Hillary were both fantastic. I rarely do reviews so that the fact that I did this one should really tell you something.

Had an issue with former landlord and return of my security deposit. Contacted Scarnecchia Mullin and within 2 days Hillary had reviewed my situation, provided excellent advice and counsel on how to proceed. She also drafted and sent a letter to the landlord which resulted in an amicable resolution to my issue within 1 week. I was not expecting the quick turnaround time and resolution. I highly recommend this firm for their responsiveness, thoroughness and results.

I hired Cliff and his firm to handle a very complicated case after my business partner died. We had to aggressively but smartly get the company back from a bitter but sympathetic widow who would have driven the company and its employees into the ground. So thankful I hired a Cliff and Wolff Law. Got a result I never thought possible. Better than ever expected. All because of a smart strategy from the very beginning.

Mr. Wolff was able to give me sound advice and help me out with a very difficult and touchy situation. He also was able to handle the very aggressive opposing attorney handsomely, so that the matter could be concluded with a minimum of stress and a great result. I will definitely call on him again when I need legal help and have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to friends and business associates.

I recently hired Zach to assist me with a contract. Not only is he knowledgeable, intelligent, and highly competent when it comes to entertainment/sports/business/contract law, he was able to articulate everything in a very succinct and easy to understand way. I would recommend Zach to anyone who needs a transactional attorney!

My wife and I own a sports agency. We were introduced to Zach through a close personal friend. He really impressed us with his knowledge of law. We hired him as our general counsel for the agency. Little did we know that we would have to use his services within a month of us hiring him. We had an age/ identity dispute with a prospective client in the Dominican Republic. I tried to resolve the issue by myself but kept getting the runaround from the main MLB office. I let Zach know that I wasn't getting anywhere with the issue and let him take over. Within 48 hours he had the issue resolved and we were able to have the player eligible to sign with any big league team. In another instance we had an issue with a marketing company and one of our clients. I had Zach and his father Leon take care of the situation with their expertise in that type of law. They had a very aggressive approach while protecting the agency and myself. At the end of this particular situation I was very pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend the Margules Law Firm.

Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Lauderdale, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
