Debora Ann Byles, Felix S. Saborio and Joe are an incredible team. I hired them to handle my divorce. I thought it was going to be a simple divorce, however, it turned into a nightmare, my ex didn’t want the divorce. Thank goodness I had Deborah’s team on my side. They helped me navigate the mess. She advised I get a restraining order, with there help, I got a restraining order, probably saving my life. Deborah’s team navigate a contentious, nasty divorce, unwavering in the most professional manner. The whole thing took two years to finalize. I truly value the excellent advise given to me. Deborah and her team were by my side the entire time. I could not have done this without them. If you need a truly professional, honest, sympathetic, caring and winning team, hire Deborah Ann Byles. They are simply the best!

In mid 2019 I found I was heading towards a retirement resulting from an auto accident, and my inability to continue gainful employment and income. At this time and for six years prior I was bound under a court order for permanent (life) alimony resulting from a divorce in 2013 awarded to and paid monthly to my former spouse. This would have a significant impact on my life style and living conditions. Additionally, my financial responsibilities would also need to be re-addressed and modified. The firm successfully represented me in this matter. My ability to continue employment and afford the original award of permanent alimony was impossible and stressful. The goal was not to just reevaluate and modify the original court order, but to have that order rescinded completely. Following eighteen months of litigation the Firm successfully brought the case to a closure resulting in completely rescinding the past order and in full agreement with my former spouse and I, and as approved and certified by the court. The Firm additionally was able to keep my legal fees to a minimum understanding that I already was no longer employed and a sustainable income was no longer available. During the time the case was active I was constantly under stress being uncertain of its outcome and what would eventually become of me and my living conditions. The Firm constantly kept me in the loop as the case proceeded and provided encouragement which indeed reduced my stress levels from time to time. The Firm eventually brought the entire case to a fully successful closure and in every matter that effected my future retirement. My sincere thanks for bringing this matter to a complete and successful conclusion in my favor. May I personally thank the following persons for their professional knowledge, expertise, and the manor in which they represented me over the length of the case litigation. Deborah Ann Byles, Esq. Attorney at Law / Counselor at Law and Trained Collaborative Family Law Practitioner Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. Legal Council: Mr. Felix F. Saborio, Esq. Office Manager: Mr. Joe Bulzacchelli My sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff. I would certainly recommend and promote any action, and reference to the benefit of any individual'(s) that are in need of, or require legal council in matters such as mine or that are within their range of their Firms legal practice. From the very first call, I knew I picked the right firm. No question was too much. Every question was answered in a timely fashion. Each time I desired a change to something, I received sound easy to understand responses that helped me decide how important my original request was or was not. Bottom line, Chelsea and Hillary were both fantastic. I rarely do reviews so that the fact that I did this one should really tell you something.

Had an issue with former landlord and return of my security deposit. Contacted Scarnecchia Mullin and within 2 days Hillary had reviewed my situation, provided excellent advice and counsel on how to proceed. She also drafted and sent a letter to the landlord which resulted in an amicable resolution to my issue within 1 week. I was not expecting the quick turnaround time and resolution. I highly recommend this firm for their responsiveness, thoroughness and results.

I hired Cliff and his firm to handle a very complicated case after my business partner died. We had to aggressively but smartly get the company back from a bitter but sympathetic widow who would have driven the company and its employees into the ground. So thankful I hired a Cliff and Wolff Law. Got a result I never thought possible. Better than ever expected. All because of a smart strategy from the very beginning.

Mr. Wolff was able to give me sound advice and help me out with a very difficult and touchy situation. He also was able to handle the very aggressive opposing attorney handsomely, so that the matter could be concluded with a minimum of stress and a great result. I will definitely call on him again when I need legal help and have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to friends and business associates.

My wife and I own a sports agency. We were introduced to Zach through a close personal friend. He really impressed us with his knowledge of law. We hired him as our general counsel for the agency. Little did we know that we would have to use his services within a month of us hiring him. We had an age/ identity dispute with a prospective client in the Dominican Republic. I tried to resolve the issue by myself but kept getting the runaround from the main MLB office. I let Zach know that I wasn't getting anywhere with the issue and let him take over. Within 48 hours he had the issue resolved and we were able to have the player eligible to sign with any big league team. In another instance we had an issue with a marketing company and one of our clients. I had Zach and his father Leon take care of the situation with their expertise in that type of law. They had a very aggressive approach while protecting the agency and myself. At the end of this particular situation I was very pleased with the outcome. I highly recommend the Margules Law Firm.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Lauderdale, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
