The worst attorney in the business! If you want your spouse to have everything then this is the attorney for you! She will never advise you of anything only tell you what you owe to your spouse. When confronting her about it she will tell you it is your fault for not telling her to advise you properly then belittle you. She will then tell you that maybe she’s not the attorney for you after spending your entire $5000.00 retainer 2 days before the mediation is scheduled. When you find another attorney she will chuckle and say no problem because she already spent all your money and will continue to bill you afterwards. Her practice should be called Your Spouse’s Advocates because that’s who she’s working for, not you! She is a scammer that doesn’t know her business very well and won’t do anything you ask while trying to hide her inadequacies behind the law. If you want your spouse to have everything and pay for incompetence then this is the lawyer for you!!!! My advice, find a great attorney like I finally did that works on a flat fee and advises their clients immediately and will fight for you and what’s yours! Remember, good reviews can be purchased cheaply, bad reviews from honest customers are far more trustworthy.

Rita and Noelle were amazing in handling my case. I was injured while on vacation in Florida and they made the whole process as easy as can be expected being out of state. They handled everything with the insurance companies and made sure I was compensated. I would recommend them to anyone! Thanks ladies!!

I found them online when looking for help with my incident that happened at work. From the beginning they were so helpful and ensured that I felt that I was being cared for and understood all of the best options. My advocate was Karla Alvarez and I was also able to work with Diana Castrillon and they were wonderful. They were there for me every step of the way and helped me get the best help when my job didn’t want to help at all. I’m so pleased to have worked with them and they ensured I was informed of everything going on with the case and I was able to go directly through them and they would go through my job for me ensuring I was getting taken care of.

Rita helped ease the anxiety of navigating my car accident I was not at fault for. If you're overwhelmed, I would highly recommend her and her firm to deal with headaches and bills that accompany an accident while trying to heal yourself. She makes herself available, and offers you to call her at any hours if you're stressed. She explains the processes and expectations clearly with your end goal in sight.

John is an expert in wealth transfer planning and the use of sophisticated life insurance strategies. While working directly with several life insurance companies, my legal counsel made inquiries as to Attorney Iannucci's experience and expertise. Every company had the same opinion of John and I concur. He was detailed oriented, explained every facet of the proposed plan and answered our questions honestly and openly.

If I could give Robert Foley and Desiree Wilson 10 stars I would do so gladly. I had a situation that required their expertise and from the very beginning I was very impressed. Robert and Desiree asked me to come in person and took the time to explain the entire process from beginning to end. The initial meeting was well over an hour. I'll never forget that. Most attorneys wouldn't go out of their way like that. I had the benefit of having 2 outstanding lawyers for the price of one. Thanks to Robert and Desiree my case was dismissed and I was able to start to get my life back together. To say that I highly recommend them is a under statement. If ever in the future I should need their expertise I would retain them both in a heartbeat.

Very much the professional, Attorney Cruz, put me at ease the moment I walked into his office. As most people feel when they turn to an attorney to perform a task that we cannot do ourselves, I was completely defeated and had no idea of the types of documentation needed. Step by step, he led me through a rather difficult task and gave me the confidence I needed to complete all of the paperwork. He stayed "connected" and in less than 3 weeks the entire process was completed. In spite of the complete professional approach, I know he is a compassionate individual who intended to provide me with peace of mind. He listens!

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Myers, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
