Many of us experience financial hardship at some point and get behind on our mortgage, I know I have, more than once. Then, while we're trying to catch up we get served with a notice of foreclosure. Now you need an attorney and they are expensive. In my experience, going to an attorney for a free consultation is like attending a timeshare sales pitch, you're pretty much locked in by the time you leave their office. In my case meeting up with Ofer Shmucher was serendipity. The attorney I retained originally had booked a European vacation and forgot to mention it until two weeks before my foreclosure date. His secretary called me with the bad news he was leaving town. She then told me they had referred my case to Ofer Shmucher. She said not to worry, he's really good and does a lot of their work. My distress shot through the roof but it was too late to start looking for a new attorney. For my first appointment I brought the information Ofer asked for, a check and my wife too. In contrast, he shared a modest office space in the outskirts of the city. Ofer sat by a large meeting table with only a laptop in front of him. After a brief introduction he leafed through our pile of papers, organized them and then started typing. There was no small talk, he asked the occasional question but his hands never stopped moving. I assumed he was taking notes for some miracle court maneuver the following week. About 30 minutes later he told us he had just filed an interim bare bones bankruptcy petition that stops the following week's foreclosure sale of our home. We were going to need more documentation but now we had time to get it. The check we brought was to cover the filing fees. In conclusion, he went over his legal fees. I remember asking him several times if that included everything, he said it did. My wife and I left there feeling a little lightheaded. All the worry of losing our home we came with and all the pressure of coming up with legal fees, all vanished in the hour we spent there. Ofer's legal fees were about a third of our other attorney who was by then vacationing in Europe, and not at our expense. Plus now we had even more time to come up with less money to pay his legal fees. The thought occurred to me that we had just met the man doing all the work behind the curtains. It's worth noting that Ofer is a man of very few words but his deeds speak volumes. I can guarantee you're not going to find a better Bankruptcy Attorney, but more likely the expensive ones. Thanks to Ofer I'm caught up with my debts and my life is back on track. In my honest opinion, if he can take your case you can rest at ease and sleep well. With Ofer you get no frills, no gimmicks, no tricks, no pressure you get what you need to save your home. But, you can do your own search and maybe you too can get as lucky as I did.
