Mr. Barnes responded to my calls in a very timely fashion and communicated regarding my case very thoroughly. He was very helpful in explaining my case, and made me feel very confident it would be resolved. I highly recommend him to anyone who feels they were charged with a crime unjustly.

After fighting a high speed fleeing & eluding and DUI charge for nearly a year with a lawyer who took my money and intended on making me plea guilty, when I was drugged, I decided to seek out a veteran who would investigate my case and represent me. Cliff Barnes was the opposite of the lawyer turned “business man”, located just south of Ft. Pierce, in Stuart, FL. Cliff provided me with his personal contact, always responded to my calls & text messages. He found an expert to testify the difference between alcohol and sedative hypnotics, which highlighted I was not drunk during the time Florida Highway Patrol arrested me, but drugged. Long story short, I was found not guilty on all charges and now I’m able to continue on with the blessings life has to offer me. Cliff also did an amazing job selecting a beautiful jury. All of the jurors were pleasant, down to earth people, who watched the evidence and told the objective truth. Thank you all. ¡Bendiciones! My family loves you all. I also appreciate the support of Mr. Kessler for coming to support us during trial. Your team really made a huge impact in my life.

I would highly recommend Brian and his assistant Cassandra. They both handled my case professionally and smoothly. I was part of the process every step of the way and contact between us was always maintained. My case felt like a priority and that was most important to me.

Brian and his team are AMAZING! There isn't enough stars to be able to give them and nobody else I would recommend. My son was falsely accused of crimes he did not commit and this team was on top of every last detail. The opposing side did not even make it half way through and they dropped the case. I can never thank Cassandra enough for taking every last one of my phone calls some even twice a day. They took their time to find every last detail proving my sons innocence. Not once did this team make my family and I feel not important or that we were not their top priority. We loved that Brian is 100% straightforward and honest with every move of our case. He told us what the worst could be and the outcome we were going for at all times. Thank you so much for all of your support, patience, and help we can finally sleep again.

I have been blessed to have had Ms. LeBlanc as my family law attorney for several years. Circumstances has caused me to deal with several different attorneys in various areas of law, which has caused me to become fairly experienced. I would also not consider my family law case a simple or straightforward one. Ms. LeBlanc has not only met my expectations, but has often far exceeded them. She is not only an intelligent and competent attorney, her character is one of honesty and kindness, and she is an all around beautiful person. She is thoughtful and compassionate. She will fight for you, but she will not mislead you either. These are all qualities that are so important to find in an attorney, and Ms. LeBlanc possesses them all. She has not only been a tremendous asset to my family law case, but I have felt comfortable enough to reach out to her in regards to other legal matters. Ms. LeBlanc has always happily either been able to help me directly or has guided me in the right direction. She is easy to contact and has a great record in regards to getting back to you. I have personally recommended Ms. LeBlanc to countless others, and I would highly recommend her to anyone. You cannot go wrong with her and you will not be disappointed!

Amy was on top of the case from day one. She was reachable through e-mail, phone, and text; even after regular office hours. She knew exactly what she was doing and she not only cared about the case but also about me as a person. She was very supportive throughout the whole process. I knew I was in good hands when I first met her. Thanks you Amy for bringing my family together.

I had a dispute with with a dealer over a motorcycle warranty, purchased from a local Long Island dealer.... issued by an international motorcycle manufacturer. (part of the settlement was that I keep it confidential) First, I tried to settle with the dealer in small claims court. No success. I met with Aida..and she suggested we sue both the dealer and the manufacturer in Supreme Court in NY. She was unbelievable. After several conferences, she got the manufacturer to settle for three times my damages. It was great...we were Davey against Goliath...and she won big time.

Mrs. Cavooris represented me in several matters involving commercial transactions in New York. She was extremely diligent and was able to spot several issues that others missed. She successfully negotiated several items on the contracts and saved me a lot of money. I recommend her without reservation.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Pierce, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
