Office of Aaron Wentz was very professional, his Paralegal (Ms. Sharp) was extremely helpful and quick to respond. It took about 7 months to get divorced, but that was part of my doing, trying to salvage a relationship, that ended up not being able to do so. however, once I made that decision, I was divorced within a few months, and sent to Judge within a few days the judge had signed. I would recommend Mr. Wentz and staff. Mr. Wentz also drew up a WILL for me and that was very quick and easy, and it within a week of speaking with him. Thank you to their office for being professional, understanding and patient.

Mr. Wentz represented me, and I couldn't be more glad with the result. He provided me with necessary information I needed to be able to settle a highly complicated divorce case with my husband. Mr. Wentz guided me in the right direction to get a good settlement to move on in life and be freed from the emotional constrains of the nature of divorce in a timely manner. I would choose Mr. Wentz to represent me time and time again. He is the guy to go to. Thank you Mr. Wentz for being there when I needed you - 12 years after we signed the pre-nuptial agreement. You are wonderful in your profession. I appreciate you, especially, and your excellent support staff! Thank you!!! :o)

I contacted Aaron Wentz in November 2020 regarding a legal guardianship of our Great Grandson. He was able to get our Great Grandson back in our care within 10 days. The case lasted 2 years, and we won the case, the adoption situation was terminated. He and his staff kept us informed, gave sound advice through out the situation. we are truly grateful for knowledge of the law and patience throughout the process.

MR Wentz and his team did a great job representing me in my case. They answered all my questions honestly, and they were looking out for my best interests in the long run. I only wish I had Mr Wentz as my attorney in the initial divorce settlement.

I can’t say enough good things about this Law Firm. First I had difficulty finding a Firm willing to take my case. My ex is in another state and we have a child together. We haven’t “been” together in 9 years. He had never paid child support. I can guarantee you guys he had zero plans ever to do it. Next he is in law enforcement and acted under that purview he was in the right “to do nothing”. I had already called 2 other Firms. They both said wait till “I” had more financial support coming in. Meaning bring in retainer first then we will see attitude. Okay, what the heck, that was part of my problem. NOT an issue with Wentz Law Firm. Mrs. Kelly Simon had me come in. They went over EVERYTHING with me. They dug into every detail to find where I had an advantage….. And then she went to work on a plan to deal with him….‘You want to keep you LEO retirement? Pay child support!’ ‘You don’t want to pay medical? Fine we will garnish your wages thru your WORK…” She wasn’t playing around. Also, we had a joint checking account he had “band me” from using. Ms. Kelly made is absolutely clear he needed to understand that I can ‘at least’ request half his money in joint accounts even if they were old. She went to town. She covered everything…….. Now a few of you are like ok so what most attorneys do that. Well first I had zero money at the time, this was a consult. I am retired and have spent the last few years on my own raising my child on my retirement which is minimal till I reach my late 50s. Kelly went over my advantages. Advised me how to approach him in the manner he would understand. She went over amounts and even back child support. Every detail in depth about my rights and even my child’s rights. And the point I want to emphasize is she told me exact what was both legal and possible NOT some “Unrealistic” outcomes. Within a week I had enough to hire their firm because of the negation tactics they armed me with toward him. There were other issues that came up during the divorce. Every item was handed fast without secondary issues. They always ALWAYS called me. And they did not nickel and dime me on cost. I have to admit there were lots of times I figured they would charge me and they didn’t. As long as it was a quick easy question. Why does this mater? Well working with attorneys in IL and Cali for 25 years I personally haven’t ever seen one who doesn’t charge a full hour for a 5 minute conversation. So yes this is wonderful of them. Keep in mind when you hire an attorney the flat fee is just that everything else is add ons. They are very clear, honest and up front on their fees. I came to them in May. In September I am now legally divorce. Dear Lord thank you. There is one more note I would like to advise. I am also retired Federal Law Enforcement. After the other two firms wouldn’t even see me I ask around. Every time, ever single time local LEOs said Aaron Wentz Firm. Why is this import. Let me explain. I worked a ton in the Courts. How the Judge perceives your known reputation as an local Attorney helps when deciding maters that are left to the Judge. And they have a stunning reputation in the courts. I hit gold with Aaron Wentz Firm. Thank you Mrs. Kelly, Heather, Abbey and of course… the Boss to Mr. Aaron Wentz. I can not thank you enough for freeing me……

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Walton Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
