After reading reviews on this website, I decided to hire her for mediation services. I felt extremely uncomfortable at the unprofessional attitude that she exhibited towards me. I would not recommend… and really wish someone had left a review like this so that I had not chosen to use her services. I was humiliated and disappointed while dealing with her due to her lack of understanding and empathy towards my situation.

Kristianna Cucinella is more than just your average, run of the mill attorney. Our child support/paternity case was extremely complicated, having already been settled in North Carolina court in our favor with prejudice. A move to the state of Florida instigated the opposing party to reopen the case, making the circumstances a bit more difficult and harder to navigate. When the lines of justice were unclear, Ms. Cucinella researched and dug until an answer was found or a comparable case was located that could be evidenced in court. While no one could ever be certain of the outcome when it comes to court matters, my Husband and I were extremely confident and beyond comfortable in the effort that the entire team put into our case. Ms. Stephanie Mack represented us on the day of court and the outcome couldn’t have been better. It is very obvious that the duo make an incredible team with clear communication, shared knowledge, fierce work ethic, and confidence that can’t be beat. I highly recommend this firm and the ladies who work there. We can’t name a single thing that we would change, nor do we have any complaints. Thank you Kristi and Stephanie for your hard work and dedication! This situation could have had such a negative impact on our family. You knew this and you fought for what was right. We can’t thank you enough for that and we are happy, thankful, and blessed by the experience and the ability to move forward.

Kristianna Cucinella is an amazing attorney. She was attentive to my needs. She made me feel at ease during a difficult time in my life. She was able to prevent the divorce from going to trial. She was organized and thorough. Ultimately, bringing the divorce to mediation with a positive resolution. She is a caring, empathetic person. She followed up with me after the dissolution of marriage - making sure that what was agreed upon in meditation was completed. I highly recommend her as an attorney.

Ms. Cucinella is an associate of Silverman & Mack. I hired Mr. Silverman to handle my custody case with my x-wife and he asked me if I wouldn't mind letting Ms. Cucinella help with my case. My case also had a juvenile criminal charge attached to it, which they were handling for me also. After talking to Ms. Cucinella, the comfort she gave me in being part my case I had no issues. Her communication is one of the best I have ever seen. There was never a time that I was not informed on a matter in my case and always received a response to any of my concerns or questions in a very timely manner. She learned my case so well that I requested to Mr. SIlverman to have her at my trial with him. It was a two day trial and Ms. Cucinella and Mr. Silverman represented me way beyond my expectations. We won my case and the judge awarded me everything I asked for and then some. One of the things I like about this firm is they care for their clients and don't dime you for every little thing on your bill like I have had done to me by other firms.

You could not find a better lawyer to work with in Ben's area of expertise. Ben is honest, straight forward, savvy, and a great steward with money. Needing a lawyer occurs at a low point for most individuals and families. You should not have to worry about great representation. Ben is an experienced lawyer that will help you navigate all the angles of a very complicated process to achieve the most optimal outcome. Sadly, we have had Ben represent us many times to the best outcomes possible given the situation. I cannot truly express how grateful we have been for Ben's counsel.

Ben Hutson is unfailingly professional, knowledgeable, efficient and kind. He is patient and committed to understanding the needs of each client and the unique challenges being faced. Being involved in a personal injury case following a traffic incident can be a disorienting and anxiety provoking situation for anyone - knowing that Mr. Hutson was available for a consultation and review In less than 24hr of initial contact was a great reassurance. He is exceptionally prompt in his responses for a consultation. Mr. Hutson conducts himself with integrity. Of note, he has a wonderful communication style and manner that places his clients at ease as he conducts his consultation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gainesville, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
