After being refereed to me by a highly regarded attorney in the Gainesville Fl area, my discussion with Eric Dibert about a potential real estate litigation case was very helpful. Although his recommendation for me to keep negotiating with a troublesome attorney has not worked out; his knowledge of my rights and the direction on how to proceed has helped me to see how now to move forward.

Mr. Dibert gave us great, no-nonsense advice. He didn't charge for the brief call, but if we hire anyone, it will be him.

I hired Eric to help me with a landlord tenant issue. I was not satisfied with his work, I feel he just didn’t want to deal with the situation. He made me feel that it was not worth his time for the “few hundred dollars “ in the deposit amount that I was after. I do not recommend him for this work.

I want to thank you for doing business with me. I feel so fortunate to have had such a good experience with you and your company. I went to the internet, did some researching, left messages for many, but you called me back and during our conversation I knew you would turn my luck around. After my previous experience with an attorney, I feel blessed. Thanks again for helping me through this mess.

Eric was retained during probate proceedings which required the removal of a tenant in the property involved. With Eric's help we were able to have the tenant removed legally from the premises according to state laws. We are grateful to have had Eric handle the requirements of the state and are very satisfied with the outcome. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and that we appreciate your work very much.

Mr. Oh’s willing to help me with my case when I’ve encountered difficulty in finding others has been of great help to me. He’s kind, patient, and professional. The price for the service is affordable to common people. He has also indicated willingness to help me should further problems arise, which is reassuring for someone encountering legal issues in the US for the first time like me.

Yong was hired to help me with my real estate legal needs. He helped me with drafting a lease and addendums as well as our property management needs, such as notices and evictions. Throughout the entire process he was communicative and answered my questions regularly. Normally, my opinion on attorneys are people who just want to bill me as high an hourly rate as possible, but Yong was affordable and upfront with his pricing. I highly recommend him and will continue to use his services.

Pam Schneider is an outstanding attorney and individual. She was vital in helping me navigate through a very difficult divorce, although with her collaborative skills and extensive experience, it was relatively easy. She is very professional, a logical thinker, keeps calm under stressful situations and maintains the highest standards of ethical behavior. I would highly recommend her (and I have) without any reservations.

I had a difficult time finding counsel and I was at my wits end as the deadline was approaching. I had been told I had no chance at an appeal. Others didn't want to take my case before they knew what it was about. Ms. Cary said she would give me a consultation and hear my case. That's all I wanted. A chance to talk to someone about my case and for some guidance. I couldn't afford to hire her so I wanted to know how to get started. Ms. Cary and her team gave me their undivided attention and time. I left her office more confident that I could do the appeal. A friend later helped me cover additional legal costs and I was able to go back to Ms. Cary for a revision of my document. Again she gave me her undivided attention and time. I submitted my appeal on time and I feel so much better than I have in a long time. It's been a hectic month and I've cried everyday. Today, I can cry happy tears. I don't know how USCIS will receive it but Ms. Cary gave me a chance that others didn't. Thank you!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gainesville, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
