I am on Workman's Compensation. I could go on and on about the challenges I faced but that ended the day I consulted with Lance Avera. Instead of thinking that I could navigate the crazy Workman's Comp world - I should have run straight to the Avera Law Firm. Not only did they provide me with the support and instruction necessary, they also made the provider pay what I should have received. Needless to say that I wasted years muddling through on my own, receiving lack of care in a timely manner, and the inability to move forward. The entire staff has been responsive to my questions and provided the support necessary so that I can move on to a life without Workman's Comp.

Jared and his team went to bat for my husband throughout his workman's comp case. Through horrible doctors, four surgeries, rehab, crabby adjusters, being fired while in recovery, missed paychecks, long appointments, the staff in this office made the struggle worth it in the end. It was a hard time for us, and no matter how many times we called, emailed or came by the office, we were always met with a smile and reassurance that all things were going in the right direction. God forbid something else was to happen to us again, but we would most definitely use the office of Avera & Smith, having Jared as our counsel.

I met Lance soon after work related back injury in 1996. It’s not funny when your employers insurance company starts withholding your checks; seemingly just to make your life a living hell; on top of the pain. I sat across from him at his desk and listened to him “tell” the other company to “Knock it off”; if I have take you to court; or call you again, you’ll pay gladly! My checks were never late again; and Lance went on to settle for me ; I was thrilled by his results, his professionalism and genuine caring. Here’s one that you won’t believe; hell I hardly could myself. You see ,several years after he had gotten me and my wife a sizable; yet fair settlement , my wife and three young ones moved back home to Lake Placid NY, where I had grown up. No sooner had we arrived, I “attempted” to fill my now “out of state” prescriptions. Mind you , we hadn’t spoken in several years. The insurance company didn’t want to fill my out of state prescriptions, period! I was completely out and had no idea what to do; I was also in dire pain. I called Vance, told him my predicament and even after several years he said , “ Stop; give me five minutes”! Less than five minutes passed and my phone rang back. He said; Buddy, what pharmacy would you like to pick them up at?” I told him and then proceeded to thank him and inquire as to how I could pay him. He simply said; “Absolutely nothing; should you have “any” further issues , call me”! I was flabbergasted, shocked and so thankful. Lawyers get a bad rap; but just try and do anything legal on your own. Lance; even after I left Florida and moved to New York took care of me and by existent, my family ; in under thirty minutes; asked for no compensation and did so with integrity, empathy, compassion, across state lines no less! We moved back to Florida, four months later; too cold and lonely for my wife, and to this day I call Lance and do should you.

Jared was my Attoney and Stephanie was my paralegal. I hope to never be in another lawsuit in my life but if I did they would be my go to team . Jared did such a great job for me and worked hard on my case . He did a lot better than what another law firm said that could be done .
