Hired him for my divorce case had to withdraw him due to his milky way of charging fees. He's been doing practicing for long in family law he couldn't figure out in 2 months how much will be the child support which i have to pay very poor performance. I understand child support numbers can be up and down he should have given me some hint and every lawyer does that to their client and for that he charged me for the work in the billing statement mentioning my paralegal Lauren did work on child support calculation what a big LIE. If you are looking for a milky lawyer he is the right choice.

This opportunity to review Knellinger Law is too short a space to provide all the accolades I can easily attribute to the entire team. My litigation stretched out for years, so I am especially qualified to share my lengthy, ongoing, month-after-month experiences with anyone seeking methodical, competent, thorough, dedicated, and exceptionally professional representation. My experience with Knellinger Law is simply beyond reproach. If possible to prevail, they will.

Richard Knellinger, the entire team at Knellinger Law, are incredibly effective. I am very pleased with how responsive they are to my needs, and truly listen to my concerns. Mr. Knellinger provides keen insight and easily communicates the complexity of law. He exemplifies true focus and determination; standing with me as zealous advocate, prevailing in every instance before the Court. Richard Knellinger is one of the most ethical lawyers I have ever known; his commitment and attention to his clients is unparalleled.

Richard Knellinger was hired by me at a very difficult time. He took great patience to explain the process we were about to begin and walked me through each step. Nothing could have prepared me for the severity of a divorce, but Rick was able to predict with almost 100 percent accuracy everything that was about to occur. Sometimes I listened to his advice and sometimes I didn't. Looking back there were many times I should have listened. Rick had a gift for looking at my whole life as part of the picture and not just concentrating on the divorce of a husband and wife. Even though my children were not minors at the time the divorce was final, Rick always had their best interest in mind as well. That personal touch was huge to me. I would highly recommend Rick and his team if you are ever in need of a divorce attorney.

I used Mr. Knellinger’s services for my divorce matter which ended a few months ago with a positive outcome. I can’t even imagine having a different attorney. During our mediation, Mr. Knellinger was extremely cordial to my, now ex-wife and the other attorney. I am still on good terms with my ex who said to me after the mediation that she wished Mr. Knellinger was her attorney. My decision to call the office and talk to Mr. Knellinger was based on the videos I saw on the firm’s website. Mr. Knellinger is second to none on my list of attorneys (and I have had the experience to meet a few) and I wholeheartedly recommend this firm to anyone who is looking for a divorce attorney.

You could not find a better lawyer to work with in Ben's area of expertise. Ben is honest, straight forward, savvy, and a great steward with money. Needing a lawyer occurs at a low point for most individuals and families. You should not have to worry about great representation. Ben is an experienced lawyer that will help you navigate all the angles of a very complicated process to achieve the most optimal outcome. Sadly, we have had Ben represent us many times to the best outcomes possible given the situation. I cannot truly express how grateful we have been for Ben's counsel.

Ben Hutson is unfailingly professional, knowledgeable, efficient and kind. He is patient and committed to understanding the needs of each client and the unique challenges being faced. Being involved in a personal injury case following a traffic incident can be a disorienting and anxiety provoking situation for anyone - knowing that Mr. Hutson was available for a consultation and review In less than 24hr of initial contact was a great reassurance. He is exceptionally prompt in his responses for a consultation. Mr. Hutson conducts himself with integrity. Of note, he has a wonderful communication style and manner that places his clients at ease as he conducts his consultation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gainesville, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
