After using a previous attorney who made me feel uncomfortable and deceived, I was hesitant to use another attorney. A friend referred me to Sean and I felt comfortable right away. He was very honest and knowledgeable and I knew I could trust him. I hired Sean to maintain and enforce my parenting plan. He always responds promptly to questions and concerns. We have taken my ex to court on two occasions and the judge ruled in my favor both times. Sean has gone above and beyond my expectations and I will continue to use him.

I wish I hired Mr Collin at the very beginning of my case. I changed attorneys after 5-6 months of wasting time and money for another attorney to enjoy vacationing while I was getting eaten alive from my ex attorney. Once Mr Collin took over, things changed. He responded to my concerns and issues immediately. He was up against an nasty, aggressive follow attorney and a professional but firm judge. He handled himself at trial like a true professional. We won our case; now my family and live is now back to normal thanks to him..

Sean Collin (Lyons, Snyder & Collin) represented me in my divorce over the last year (2011-2012). The judge was tough and very aggressive, but Sean never flinched - not for a second. Impressive. He is experienced, capable and calm under fire. Very professional. Even when moments became hot and intense, Sean remained unflustered, working details and financial math without any detectable nervousness or hesitation. He is as good with numbers as any forensic financial analyst that I have seen. I gained an entirely new respect for attorneys because of him, and I have worked with many fine lawyers over the last thirty years, although always in business...this was the first time I engaged counsel for myself. Top-flight attorneys like Sean Collin are often very, very expensive. We pay for talent and success, of course. Even so, I found Sean to be reasonable and fair for what I asked of him; I never felt gouged or "nickeled and dimed" to death. He lives and works in Miami, but I brought him to Orlando for my case...I never once regretted the expense, which was extremely fair. Sean Collin treated me with kindness, courtesy, and manly decency...and he was always, always frankly honest. His advice was sound. When the Orlando divorce court judge asked me why I went all the way to Miami for my counsel, I told him straight up that I wanted the best. I was not disappointed. If Sean Collin accepts you as a client, consider yourself very fortunate indeed. (It is noteworthy that recent peer industry reviews and accolades support my experience and comments.)

Meeting with Ms Natascha Aabbott came with an immediate recognition of her confidence and determination to assist me and to handle my case. My divorce case, went from an attempt to a simple dissolution of marriage to the most intricate stubborn blockage given by my ex. Every avenue and legal resort allowed by the Law, Ms Aabbott duly and decisively transited. 8 months of dedication and her persistence and resolve character to get us thru brought us to the Court in that very final day of the hearing. The size of the file she brought in was impressive, all so meticulously filed in and carefully followed thru. That final hearing day became a memorable date in my life that I will forever be indebted and most grateful to Ms Aabbott. My case was successfully closed and my single status got lawfully restored.

When I first met Natascha the thing that stood out to me instantly was her sincerity. I remember feeling like this is a person that I don’t have to be cautious of when I’m already dealing with many difficult facets in the problem that ultimately brought me to meet her. It didn’t take long for my immediate fondness of her to grow into a strong respect of her capabilities and knowledge. A couple of months in, I knew that I had certainly made the right choice… As Natascha and I navigated the dynamic and daunting legal system over roughly one year together, it wasn’t without unforeseen roadblocks and truly rare pitfalls. In one instance, I reached out to an old friend, whom is a decorated senior attorney at a huge firm elsewhere, to ask if he’d ever seen what we encountered before. He had not, in all his years, dealt with such absurdity as the events that Natascha and I dealt with. At the conclusion of our conversation he told me that the choices my lawyer made were exactly what he would have done and that sometimes these things just happen. Even with all the, dare I say, “Craziness”, I felt Natascha and I were successful at every turn. Fortunately for me, we had right on our side to begin with… I’m explaining all these details to properly illustrate that my experience with Natascha Aabbott was much more than paperwork or a simple legal problem solved. It was an all-consuming journey that has forever changed my family life for the better. It didn’t matter if it was 10pm on a Sunday night, if I needed Natascha, she was available. I was given every form of possible communication, 24/7 support, more than fair billing, and a level of dedication to my family that made me always feel like I was working with a trusted friend. Sometimes I even got blunt honesty when my stress level got the best of me. The sincerity that first made me feel comfortable hiring Natascha became invaluable when things got tough. In summary, Natascha Aabbott is an excellent attorney. If you want someone by your side that is solid, smart, capable, kind, empathetic, honest, dedicated and most importantly, tough as they come when she needs to be, hire Natascha Aabbott and her team. You won’t regret it…

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hallandale, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
