My son was charged with possession of alcohol (under 21) as well as misd. possession of a controlled substance while on vacation in Amelia Island. Several attorneys offices contacted us and after speaking with Mr. Michael Rainka I felt comfortable knowing he would handle my child's case in a professional manner. Being a paralegal myself (sadly in another state from where my child's charges were) I knew the appropriate questions to decide if this firm was the best fit for our needs. I am pleased with the way the case was handled. I also cannot say enough about how when I would email or call Mr. Rainka with a question or concern, he was willing to talk with me, call me back or email me back. My child completed all required remedies for his indiscretion and the charges are dropped!! Although I hope to never need services like this again, I would not hesitate to hire this firm if the need were to arise!

COVID-19 and inflation has really taken quite the toll on everyone. We are paying outrageous amounts of money for everything to include basic needs. Gas, food, housing, everything has skyrocketed.
Like many families, we have debt that we are trying to pay off. My husband and I work hard, and we were interested in learning more about debt consolidation.
We received one of those letters in the mail from an agency called Alliance One with a pre-approval so we figured we would call and see if this is a good process for us. I called in, they took my husband and I’s information, and someone by the name of “Chris” called me about 24-48 hours later with our results.
We did not qualify for the loan that I had expected “debt consolidation” to work. They loan us the amount of all our credit cards, we pay them off and choose whether we want to close them our not, then we pay the consolidated amount in that loan, saving us from paying several different high interest rates. Chris explained that we did not qualify for that, however we did qualify for another route. He said that Century Law Firm would offer us a 3-year, 3.5 year, and a 4-year option at a fixed rate. I believe the payment was around $700 a month but every credit card we rolled into that, would have to be closed. So essentially, we would pay that fixed rate in exchange for all those cards, however, only a portion of that rate goes towards the card, the other portion they negotiate with the creditor. We did not feel comfortable allowing our cards to go delinquent and not paying back everything we borrowed. I have a 100% payment history and we just were not willing to temporarily jeopardize that. We had a meeting yesterday with this person Chris but I had to work late, and was unable to take his call. He called me back today and I explained the reasons I mentioned above and that I did not believe this was something that we were interested in. Chris continued to push, and push explaining the same process to me over and over about it is a temporary damage to your credit and he stated that Century Law Firm does not negotiate with creditors that they cannot produce a settlement with. I understood that too, but I was not willing to put that in Century Law Firms hands. He continued to push and finally I just told him that I understood what he was saying, but this wasn’t something we are interested in doing. I told him I appreciate him calling back and taking the time with me and to have a good weekend and he stated: “Alright, well good luck Maleaha with this $40k.” Almost like he was mocking the fact that we are in debt.
He confused me tremendously on who he worked for and of course, he never mentioned his last name. He said at first, he was with Alliance One and the next phone call he said Century Law Firm. I am unsure who he truly works for but I feel like my experience should be brought up because these last few years have been a struggle for everyone. My husband is active-duty military, and I am a retired disabled veteran. We have moved all over and been presented with expenses that we had no where to turn with. Homeowner expenses, groceries, hospital visits, everything just like everyone else. No one deserves to be mocked or have our personal financial matters be used in a way to make us feel even more uncomfortable than we already are.
I highly recommend the following:
Alliance One and/or Century Lawn Firm, teach your employees some empathy and compassion. If this employee disrespected me, who else could he be disrespecting? The employees should not be force feeding these programs down people’s throats. I would have remained more interested if I didn’t feel as rushed and at the end, disrespected.
People seeking debt consolidation assistance, do your research, don’t settle for people that don’t have basic manners and customer service skills.
Again, it was unclear who this person worked for but he presented himself as working for Alliance One and Century Law firm so I feel both parties should know how their employees are treating customers.
