I hired this attorney in June of 2014 for a foreclosure case on a property that someone stopped paying me for. It is now days away from 2016, the other party never responded to or contested the foreclosure and have vacated the property, yet nothing has happened and this attorney has not given me an update in months. When I first hired him I assumed that I'd hired a run of the mill attorney that would do what he had to do, probably with the help of his paralegal(s) and secretary. I did not "mother" him - which in hindsight, I probably should have done. It was not until February of 2015, after leaving angry voicemails that he finally e-filed my papers with the court. E-FILED. EIGHT months later (including the time - which I believe is a month - we're supposed to wait for a response from the other party). Meaning he could have done that from his office months ago. Fast forward to June, I travelled to Florida to meet with him because he was not returning my phone calls or emails. He promised he would update me weekly and apologized for his lack of communication and professionalism - blaming the fact that he worked by himself and had too many cases. My court date was "July" - that's in quotation marks because it was "changed" to "November" when the date came around. At this point I have ZERO trust in this man, so two weeks before the November court date I emailed him REMINDING him of the date and asking him to just let me know he'd be attending to it. He never did. A few days before the court date I called and emailed him. No response. A few days after, and then again a week after the court date, I emailed him again. He responded to me on November 24th with this: "I will follow up with you asap. I am out of the office at the moment." (< copy & pasted from the email). Mind you, he has told me he was out of the office and/or on vacation about 3-4 times since I'd hired him. It's now December 11th. I've emailed him once since that date, and called twice. I've been beyond patient. I will be reporting him to the Florida Bar Association.
