My first reaction was “I’m speechless!!”. When I hired Kate Miller Law I was coming out of a horrible experience with another attorney who advised me to settle for way less than I deserved. The entire staff was so helpful and Kate is an caring, talented and professional attorney. Through it all, she was completely supportive and the outcome was way better than I hoped for. Thank you so very much. I will recommend Kate Miller Law to anyone I know who needs a family law attorney.

I am a court reporter. I have worked with Ms. Miller extensively over the past few years. At times she has hired my company and at other times she has been on the other side of a case. Ms. Miller is extremely professional. Her clients always come first. She is an exceptional attorney. I have found working with her that she is knowledgeable, skilled in the law and presents the cases in a clear, concise manner, whether it be in the courtroom or in a deposition. I consider her to be one of the top notch attorneys in Lake County.

I will get right to the point! Kate Miller is PHENOMENAL! I do not mean amazing and outstanding, I mean PHENOMENAL! Hiring her was no doubt the best decision we ever made. About nine months ago we were just like you, searching for an attorney who could represent us, and our families interests regarding a divorce/custody situation, in the most professional, positive, and productive manner. We were coming off a 2 ½ year scenario with a former attorney that had pretty much gone stagnant and needed an influx of enthusiasm and a fresh look. During our search we came across Kate and started to investigate her practice. We were able to contact several other attorneys I knew in the area and they had nothing but glowing recommendations. We read reviews (just like your reading) and digested what her clients consistently stated. The clinching factor for us was after we sent her a review of where the case was and all its intricate details and occurrences, we scheduled our first phone meeting to discuss the case. UNBELIEVABLE!! Literally within the first 10 minutes she had a grasp and an understanding of exactly where we were and exactly what needed to be done. Keep in mind there were some very intricate details and issues that she did not even know about yet and was asking questions and making statements as if she had been on the case for years. To this day that encounter was nothing less than astonishing. At that point I was even more convinced we had made the right decision! Our time with Kate started during the COVID pandemic so we were limited as to what we could do early on but once the courts opened back up it was like watching Picasso paint, Michelangelo sculpt, and Mozart compose! Kate was all over it. Her tenacity with the opposing counsel, her supreme intellect, her steadfast determination, and her ability to decipher exactly what needed to be done at the exact time it needed to be done was simply PHENOMENAL! She seemed to have the innate ability to see what most people can’t see and act when most people would not act. Her timely motions and depositions were profound and applied the pressure needed to move the case along. And speaking of depositions if you can be a part of one of those pop some popcorn and sell some tickets because it is a sight to see! In the end Kate was able to derive an outcome that has changed the course of our family’s future for eternity. We could not have asked for any more than she and her staff provided. And speaking of her staff it was also a phenomenal aspect of her practice. Her paralegal Amy is truly one remarkable person. Now I’m sure as you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking is this for real. Is all this true? Will let me assure you it is. If you’re looking for someone who can handle any legal situation you have that is professional, available, aggressive and fair, Kate Miller needs to be your choice….. without question. We believe so much in her if you want to reach out to me and discuss things further, I will be happy to take your email. I can be reached at

Highly recommend John Vasti, Attorney! He is the most honest and ethical person we’ve had the pleasure of doing business with. It’s obvious he’s not representing you strictly for monetary gain for himself, but to obtain fairness and justice for you as his client. He and his Legal Assistant communicated with us promptly with status updates, as well.

Vivionne really cares for her clients and it shows in how hard she works for them. I've had the privilege of watching her work on matters firsthand and have even referred a friend to her for a last minute deal that she took on. My friend said she knew EVERYTHING and was very well prepared (which is how she works). She is super professional and KNOWS HER STUFF! If there is ANYBODY you can trust with your legal matter, Vivionne IS your attorney.

I am a trial attorney who has been practicing for ten years. Attorneys only hire the best when they need representation outside of their field. That is why I hired Stephanie Brionez to assist me in a civil/commercial matter (an area clear outside of my field). She is brilliant, dedicated, and tenacious in her desire to accomplish the goals that her clients have set out. SHe is a sharp attorney, and she runs a fantastic law firm. Suffice it to say that I highly recommend Brionez + Brionez, P.A.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Leesburg, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
