I do not typically write reviews unless warranted (e.g., a business is particularly exceptional or lacking). Thankfully, in this case, I am happy to report that Ryan far exceeded my expectations! Ryan thoroughly reviewed the proceedings with me before the hearing to ensure my understanding and prepare me for what may be asked. Ryan’s extensive preparation and knowledge in family law became apparent during the case when he was able to promptly respond to questions and statements made by the judge and/or opposing counsel. Lastly, I am so thankful to say that we were granted our relocation request! Oh, and I cannot forget to mention his assistant, Sarah. She is very personable and helped ease my worries before the case. Ryan and Sarah, I cannot thank either of you enough!

I recommend anyone that has a problem with individuals trying to homestead and live on your property or said home that does not legally belong to them. I could not afford to hire an attorney so I went to the local legal aid to assist me. Mr. Schutte took the case over from Three Rivers Legal Services, legal aid, without charge. He handled my entire divorce proceeding, getting me support and residential custody of my children. Three Rivers had not asked for these but Mr. Schutte insisted. Though the case almost three years, Mr. Schutte never asked for a fee, and in fact countered the argument in court of my ex's attorney when he brought it up. I feel that he is an outstanding attorney and I recommend to everyone.

I think he is Number 1. He took a case when another lawyer threw me away. I had been hurt in a slip and fall, the insurance company wanted to give me basically nothing. He put the adjuster in her place. After all was said and done, I received five times the amount the adjuster wanted to pay.

I do not live in Live Oak anymore 90% of the time and I needed a criminal defense attorney to help me with something that had occurred. He actually answered the phone when I called, we discussed the case he told me he would get back with me the next day, which he did. At that point, kyle informed me as to what he thought he could get done from his preliminary investigation. He told me what the cost would be, and we agreed that he would handle it for me. Over the course of the next 60 days Kyle and I I spoke possibly two times he called me to give me an update on my case and today he called letting me know. He had exceeded my expectations and had the case dismissed and we were done and over with he charged me exactly what he told me he would. He did exactly as he told me he would. He was always available he took my .calls then call me if there was something he needed or he won’t need to give me an update on my case. Summing this review up Kyle did an awesome job for me. He did exactly what he said and received results which I didn’t think he could would be able to get but he did.and I appreciate it. Thanks so much

Like anything else, you get what you pay for. If you hire Mr. McLeod, you're getting a no nonsense pit bull that will fight for you. He's a stand up guy with a proven track record, not like some other, more sleazy attorneys. What else could you ask for? God willing, this is the last time I need an attorney. Should there come a day I do, there is no question who I'm calling. Thank you Kyle and Ms. Wendy. You were, quite literally, life savers. I could not be happier with him and I could never fully express my gratitude for everything he did for me.

If you are looking for an attorney who is honest, straightforward knowledgeable and is genuinely concerned about his clients and the outcome of their case, then you have definitely found it in Kyle McLeod. He does exactly what he says he will do and goes above and beyond to get you the best possible results. My youngest son, Jordan was charged with 4 counts of vehicular homicide back in January. My family and I were very worried and afraid of what could happen to him. In the state of Florida, the maximum sentence for this charge is 15 years; per person for a total of 60 years. Jordan had no prior criminal record and no drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the accident. Kyle took our case and told us he felt he could get the case dismissed. By God’s grace, he did exactly that!! The case was dismissed!! He was a life saver to me and my family. I cannot thank him enough. I thank God for leading me to him. When I researched him, I could tell he was a man of Faith and I knew I had made the right choice. His years of experience speaks volumes as well and he’s also reasonably priced. You will not go wrong if Kyle handles your case. I would highly recommend him to anyone I know in need of a great criminal attorney. I wish I could give him 10+ stars. Awesome job! CASE DISMISSED

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Live Oak, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
