I had never needed a lawyer before. I did not want a billboard lawyer and was doing some research online. When I came across Sarah I just instinctively KNEW. From our first meeting to the end of the case I felt like a person in need who mattered, not just another client. She and her staff really take the time to develop a relationship with you and put your needs first. I felt like I was in a jungle with no idea what to do. Her kindness, empathy, professionalism, and knowledge helped me out of the dark place I was in and got me back to feeling whole. The entire process was taken care of. I did not have to worry about anything. She and her staff took care of even the smallest details you never know you need help with after an accident. I was in another accident yrs after the first and was terrified. It was a Holiday and I just left her a message. I did not have to wait at all... she personally called me back at the scene and took the time to help me through yet another dark place. I can’t say enough about Sarah and how she truly cares about YOU, your wellbeing and getting you back to whole. Everything about the experience of working with her was absolute perfection.

The first time I was in a car wreck, I was referred to Sarah Goldman through a family attorney who had worked with my parents for some time. The second time I was in a wreck, I called Goldman Law from the scene and had an appointment scheduled the next day. Sarah is an excellent attorney. She's approachable, extremely professional, and easy to contact with questions about the case. In both cases I was very pleased with the way my case was handled, and the settlements that resulted. If a friend or family member needed an advocate for a personal injury case, I would recommend Sarah Goldman wholeheartedly.

My grandson and I was in a car accident in January 2017. We were both injured and I wasn’t sure who to call I didn’t want to call the ones I see on TV, so I called a friend of mine who is an attorney and ask for some names of attorneys that that would work hard for me. I wanted someone that would see me as a person and not a dollar sign. Sarah and her staff worked very professionally and was able to settle our claims quickly and to our satisfaction. I will definitely recommend her to all my family and friends.

Glen was extremely professional and responsive to any questions I had regarding my foreclosure defense and assisted in allowing me to remain in my home for an additional two years until I was able to secure full time employment and another place to live. Glen also coordinated a settlement with my mortgage company in order to obtain reimbursement for my moving expenses related to securing employment over 1000 miles from my prior home in Florida. I would definitely recommend Glen for any legal issue as he assisted me formally with my foreclosure defense and settlement agreement and he also provided me with consultation on other legal issues where I decided not to have Glen represent me. I referred Glen to two of my friends and he was able to provide them with information that assisted them in determining the course of action that they would take.

I have litigated several cases against Mr. Meltz over the years and Chuck is one f the most professional and brightest attorneys with whom I have ever had the pleasure of litigating. Mr. Meltz has consistently put the best interests of his clients above his own financial interests time and time again. While many insurance defense attorneys generate paperwork designed primarily to bill the client, I have never seen Chuck Meltz file anything or send me anything that was not designed to do anything but flush out facts and issues helpful to the defense of the case. Not only is he a true professional, he is extremely smart in the handling the defense of litigation brought against his clients. I cannot recommend Mr. Meltz highly enough. A smart lawyer knows when to pick his fights and when to maintain professional decorum, and as I said, Chuck Meltz is a very smart lawyer.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Maitland, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
