Pros
1
Excellent legal representation and case outcomes
“This guy works miracles! I was coming home from a bar after a pretty wild night and was stopped by the Palm Bay PD. Cop saw a bunch of beers in my car and said I failed all the sobriety test. I was arrested for DUI. I thought it was hopeless after a few lawyers told me I'd probably get convicted and have a DUI on my record. Then I heard about Rick and his son and wound up hiring them because they at least gave me hope. In the end, Rick was able to get me out of the DUI and got the State to reduce the charge to a Reckless Driving!”
2
Personalized and compassionate service
“They spoke with me not just about my case but who I was as a person and what I was trying to do with my life. I believe by getting to know me a little better they were able to try my case in a way that got the best possible outcome.”
3
Experienced and knowledgeable attorneys
“Richard Canina, as well as his daughter and son, worked extremely hard on my case of a felony drug charge as a juvenile after being arrested just a few months prior of the new arrest. Mr. Canina got me the best possible outcome and I now have a chance to get my record clean.”
4
Excellent communication and availability
“He even gave me his personal phone number in case I had any questions or concerns after normal office hours, or needed to get in touch with him in an emergency.”
5
Respect and gratitude for veterans
“Finally, the Canina family law firm has a tremendous respect and devotion for Veterans. Speaking as a veteran, I cannot thank them enough for the services they provided which will allow for my return to military service, the compassion they have shown me, and the gratitude they have given me for my service and desires to return to service.”

We were victims of hurricane Ian. Our property insurance was with Slide Insurance. Their initial field adjuster was terrific and agreed that the roof needed replacement and the lanai screens repaired. Slide then sent 2 other field adjusters out to refute original adjuster claims and said damage was caused by poor maintenance by us. Well, enter Mike who guided us to a successful claim allowing us to replace the roof and other needed repairs. He was professional, personable and knowledgeable about how insurance companies operate. A perfect lawyer to have on your side when dealing with insurance companies. Thank you Mike! John & Annie Speaker Punta Gorda, Florida

I needed help with my fiance visa and I called around every lawyers office in East Florida. Every office I called was the same. They got my information then wanted to bill me for a consultation without knowing anything about my case. Only Mrs. Bier actually talked to me before the consultation and had notes prepared for my case. She is very professional and answered all my questions as well as giving me good advice. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Mr. Studenberg has many qualities that would qualify him to be deemed an exceptional person to have in your corner, but the one that he exercises without fail is his understanding and communicative ability to deal with all aspects of the law concerning each case. He has handled not only my personal estate, but that of my late sister. And I have to say honestly, I have never found him to be anything but the complete professional in all areas of planning and plea's of the court. I have met and dealt with many attorney's, Ganon's ability to show good judgement, empathy, and communication at every juncture. Areas of planning, trust, and execution of documentation is without a doubt what everyone wants, but not always what they receive. This is what set him apart ! I am consider myself very fortunate to have met with him 7years ago, and have referred most of my entire network and family to him since that time. Keep up the great work for your ever growing and exceptional practice, YOU truly deserve it all. RW

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Melbourne, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
