I had a very long and contested divorce...Ric guided and represented me through some very tough litigation and hurdles. His advise and counsel is based in reality and knowledge of the system. You always have an idea of how you think things will go and sometimes reality "checks in" along the way...as your "soon to be ex" throws curveballs. If you're ready to get real and make it through a savage divorce, Ric is your guy. He was always responsive, prepared and knowledgeable. To all of you "first time-future divorcees" out there: divorce is a negotiation. I haven't met anybody yet who has gone through one that is 100% happy with the end results. Maybe you feel thought you should've gotten more of something or feel you left something on the table. My advice is to be flexible, don't sweat the small stuff and keep moving to the finish line. Everything's going to be alright with Ric!!

Bottom line only: Ric Convinced me to drop charges on my violent and very abusive ex husband, and the worst part: At the same time he convinced me to sign the worst “temporary agreement” justifying himself with false legal statements (now I know!) giving my ex almost 50% in timesharing. Financially he led me to devastation in that same agreement by allowing my billionaire ex continue his financial abuse, and not take responsibility for anything! That was the beginning of my divorce story, before it complicated as much. Five years later, I’m still under that “temporary” agreement. No need to say that the bad guy (x husband) is in a very comfortable position, while I’m struggling to get ends meet- thanks to ric Woodward. unprofessionalism and worst advice. Can’t believe I had to pay him to worsen my case! But there are more like him out there. Beware!

I wish 0 stars was an option and even that is probably being too nice he was extremely hard to get ahold of even though his retainer was paid in full up front what should have been a cut and dry case considering the mother is a convicted heroin user who hadn't seen her kids in almost 10 years turned into a nightmare that resulted in my kids living with their mother based on ric's advise of letting them visit her and after her filing for emergency custody in Ohio his exact words to me were "I forgot how complicated your case was and you should probably find an attorney in Ohio" and to add insult to injury now he is sending me a $200 bill for a phone call telling me my case was too complicated for him to continue I wish I could suck that bad at my job and still get paid

Well, where do i start? I was referred to Mr. Woodward by another attorney I couldn't afford in the summer of 2009 (working together still 2019). He charged me $200 for a one hour consult and later a $1800 retainer. At the end this hour he said 3 things. -"I want to help you and your family get through this." -"Be absolutely honest with me" -"pay me or Ill stop defending you until you do" The divorce finalized in May 2012 due to extenuating circumstances. My notes, his guidance, and ability to litigate for what's important and what's not.... saved me tons of money and heartache. I am wise enough to know my case isn't that rare. He also taught me to litigate myself. I've won a dozen hearings by litigating my own case with his guidance through short meetings with him. "Woodward Wants to Help". Yeah maybe I'm bias. If you cant afford an attorney to defend you throughout you case. Hire one to guide you, or help you do important filings. Time is of the essence and if you are reading this.... you are at the precipice. Good luck and fight the good fight.

I would give this attorney 0 stars if possible. We'll start at the beginning. Upon retaining Mr Woodward as counsel for a custody dispute with a mother convicted of multiple charges of domestic disputes and child endangerment there was obviously a discussion as to what would happen during the case and costs associated. I retained Mr Woodward from Iowa 2000 miles away from my case upon a poor recommendation from another attorney and his own solicitation of interest in my case in my mailbox in Iowa. Not only did Mr Woodward not review my case or the evidence AT ALL but I made multiple attempts to contact him and visit his office to give him evidence for the case that I had prepared and procured of my own will to which I was turned away and told he would get ahold of me. The date of our initial family mediation (one week after retaining him) he had forgotten completely and speaking to him on the phone voiced that he had plans with his girlfriend. After having to convince him rescheduling was not an option as I had just traveled 2000 miles for the mediation I was attempting to bring him evidence to review for the case and calling repeatedly and he did not even take the evidence. I again presented it to him at the time of our mediation which was the first in person meeting I had with him. Once again he did not take the evidence. I was poorly advised during the mediation to sign an agreement that not only has so far circumvented another order already in place in the state of Iowa but also put me at a serious disadvantage to protecting my chold and returning him promptly to Iowa. I was basically given an ultimatum of sign the mediation agreement mom out forth or mom has custody even though her initial filing was NOT done 6 months after my son was in the state of Florida. For those that dont know, that is what determines a childs home state. I was advised that florida only gives the mother any rights to the child by default even though the mother has multiple convictions with the department of human services in Iowa and the child has been a CINA in Iowa previously due to the mothers violent actions. So I signed the paper for fear I would not be able to see my child at all. Then oncw again mr woodward refused to review the evidence I had taken the time to prepare. Didn't even take it from me. Then continuing on with poor representation he did not even procure the necessary documents to review himself from the courts in Iowa. Ric did not advise me in any capacity to what to do in my case. When told about 6 counts of perjury in the mothers initial filing he simply stated he doesnt handle criminal law and I would have to retain another attorney. This is after giving him 2000 dollars as a retainer after I represented myself in preparing an answer and counterpetition for custody. I was nice in my counterpetition and simply asked for my son to be returned and did not bash or shame the mother as she did myself (falsely) in her filing. I have all the supporting documentation stating why it has been deemed in Iowa that the mother is unfit to be the primary caregiver. Since Ric was not advising me in any capacity as to actions I could take, I once again read through florida family law to find the laws on inconvenient forum. I presented those laws to Ric to which he said he would see what he could do and argued that it wasn't viable. He ended up preparing a motion that had my entire name wrong. Not even close. In that motion he referenced not only the wrong case numbers, police reports, and iowa dhs incident numbers but he did not even bother correcting them upon myself pointing it all out to him. He simply corrected my name and submitted it anyway. I was furious at the lack of care taken in my case and expressed so and he stated that all that mattered was we get before a judge and he could tell them the correct information. Upon multiple lapses in contact, information, and not providing me with documentation required, the judge wasn't even asked if I could appear by phone. He just had me call the judge and not be able to speak. Fired!

I just moved to Florida about a month or so when I got pulled over for doing almost 100 in 70mph zone. My commute to work is 2 hours and this specific morning I was running late. The officer did not want to hear it. Nontheless, Mr. Kernan represented me in court. My case got dismissed. I mean what more can you ask for? Hopefully I do not get pulled over again but if I do he will be the first person I call. Thank you thank you

Rodney Kernan represented me in a traffic case where the judge was ready literally ready to lock me up and throw away the key. Due to Mr. Kernans representation, rather than being arrested, I was fined with a non-moving violation, and must attend drivers safety school. He truly kept me out of some serious trouble and surprisingly to me only got me a slap on the wrist. This was my first experience with him and without a moments hesitation would recommend him to anyone.
