Rear-ended by a commercial truck on Gratigny Parkway traveling 55 m.p.h. Reaggravated three herniated discs of lumbar spine, torn labrum on right shoulder, partially torn rotator cuff on right shoulder, {from accident.} After speaking with his intake coordinator Eddie, it was confirmed through Mr. Morgan that my case was worth more than what my previous attorney was offering, (between 60k and 80k,) and more in line with client cases with similar injuries on his website. If what I'm saying is not true, why would I dismiss an attorney who valued my case between 60k and 80k, if I wasn't told my case was worth more. The reason why I dismissed my previous attorney was due to difficulties obtaining medical and insurance documents from providers which i had to do myself and felt he was not on top of my case. After finishing treatment I was shocked when Mr. Morgan informed me the most he would be able to obtain would be $17,500 after one round of negotiations.This is after an initial offer of $8,450 which he advised me in writing and by email that I would be wise to accept, Lol. For that amount I could've sent the demand package to the at fault's insurance company myself without having to pay attorney commissions. He later informed me that if he did take it to trial it would be at least another year of waiting, the judge would most likely reduce the reward, what I had was most likely a pre-existing injury or due to my age,(52 y.o.), not much damage to my vehicle, ($6k), not primary holder on insurance policy, ( I'm listed insured under my daughters insurance policy, her vehicle), Insurance purchased out of state, ( purchased here in Florida, since vehicle is registered here in Florida, {Geico], didn't have enough time at physical therapy, etc. the list goes on. Made me feel like I was trying to defraud the insurance company or didn't believe my story. Let the insurance company prove I'm lying or I had a preexisting medical injury, or my injuries were the result of aging. You were hired to represent me not the at fault party. I just think he didn't like me for whatever reason or I didn't allow him to talk over me which he often did. I found him to be very arrogant to the point where we had shouting matches over the phone. I mean the at fault party had a $1,000,000 million dollar insurance policy and the most that you could obtain for me was $10,467? (after deductions.) What I do know was I haven't visited a doctor for my shoulder before the accident, haven't worked in 15 years, don't receive disability, never sued anybody in my life and haven't been in a gym in over 25 years to lift any kind of weights. The orthopedic surgeon established a connection between the accident and my injuries and wanted to start me with conservative treatment with physical therapy.I only stopped after a combined 10 weeks between the chiropractor and orthopedic surgeon because the therapy with the orthopedic surgeon aggravated my condition. You tell me I didn't have to accept the offer, but at the same time you're telling me that $17,500 is the best you can do, by trying to hire another attorney would result in a lien to be split among all attorneys. I did call two other attorneys, but no attorney would touch a case where two other attorneys are involved. I felt like I had no other choice.The only clients most attorneys are willing to take serious, or take their case to trial are clients who have undergone or willing to go through with surgery. As far as chiropractors go, they're only interested in obtaining the maximum amount of $10,000 of your P.I.P. benefits and tell you that you have to meet a required number of visits before they release you from therapy in order to get a favorable outcome in your personal injury case. Very bad and stressful experience with this attorney. On a positive note working with Diana Mejia was a pleasure. Filing a complaint with the Florida Bar with supporting documentation such as emails, text messages and medical records regardless of outcome. Business owner information
