I was recommended to Ally by my daughter who had an amazing experience, so I already felt at ease. Ally has a personality that makes everything feel so light. With her liveliness and speed she alchemizes the energy around this subject into something celebratory. Her zest, her pep, and quick wit made for this to be an enjoyable process. It felt like I was just signing legal documents, nothing more. Thank you, Ally, for your professionalism, kind heart, and services.

To Attorney Bratter, Mrs. Bratter and the entire team of Bratter P.A, I have no words to express my gratitude on behalf of me and my family. Attorney Bratter and his entire team (specially Mrs. Bratter) has always given to my family the support and the confidence we needed throughout this exhausting process to obtain our EB2-NIW Green Card. I received mine last year and we have just received the fantastic news that my wife’s and my daughter’s were issued as well. Attorney Bratter is honest, straightforward, super professional (he is a yes or no), creative and extremely well prepared. Even though I am not an attorney in the US, since I am a Brazilian attorney, I must say he is one of the very few people in my line of work who I would consider outstanding and he is also my liaison to any legal matter I might have, always referring me to the best professionals. For me, to have Joshua Bratter as my Attorney is both an honor and a privilege. Any words I write at this present moment will not be sufficient to express my eternal gratitude. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! Roberto, Milena and Maria Laura Cordeiro

My husband and I had a great experience working with Ally. We had put off estate planning for far too long and when we finally committed to getting it done, we had a short timeline based on personal circumstances. Ally was wonderful to work with, easy to reach, responsive, very knowledgeable, and friendly. We would highly recommend her for your estate planning needs.

I am thrilled with my experience with Ally! My husband and I were not looking forward to our estate planning; but several of our trusted friends recommended Ally and we couldn't be happier. She was warm, professional, and thoroughly explained all the legal terms without making us feel insecure! She clearly outlined her expectations and I felt very heard. I highly recommend Ally she is a rockstar!

We highly recommend Ally for your estate planning needs. Ally is very responsive and helpful in every step of the way. She not only answers any questions you might have but she also encourages questions. Ally will be in your corner for the long term which provides peace of mind for the future. On a side note unbeknownst to me at the time my cousin had retained Ally for her estate planning needs and was as happy as we are. Now another family member will be contacting Ally in the future for estate planning. Thank you Ally for your diligence and knowledge.

I absolutely recommend Karyn for her exceptional legal advice and support. From the very first consultation, it was evident that her expertise surpassed any information I had encountered online or through any other services( the JAG office). Karyn's insight into my specific case was incredibly detailed, highlighting nuances that I hadn't even considered. The cost of the consultation was undoubtedly worth it, as Karyn meticulously analyzed every aspect of my situation, which I could not have done by myself. Her discussions and thorough approach instilled confidence in myself and my spouse that I was receiving the best possible guidance. Throughout the process, Karyn has been an unwavering source of support, always available to address any concerns or queries. Her consistent availability and clear communication have been helping, ensuring that I never felt alone or confused during this journey while I was stationed overseas with my Spouse. In summary, Karyn's expertise, attention to detail, and constant support make her an outstanding legal professional. I am grateful for her guidance and would wholeheartedly recommend her services to anyone in the Army in need of expert legal advice.

I met Karyn and her team over 17 years ago, when I first needed an immigration lawyer. Thanks to her expertise, we had 100% success at every step. When it came time for my husband's very complicated case, she was there every step of the way. Today, we are so happy to have received the approval! Karyn knows the law and all of its changes. I don't know how I could have done this without her.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Miami Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
