Jed and his team were amazing. They were with me every step of the way. They made sure I had the best medical care possible. Jed made sure that I was compensated very well for my pain and suffering. He is not afraid to go to bat for you and he will be 110 % honest and upfront. I am forever grateful to Jed and his whole team.

This law firm is the place to go for your estate planning, trusts, will and setting up you or your family for protection. What most people don't realize is JUST how important these matters are and the State can really interfere and get into your matters upon your passing. It's imperative to have this stuff handled, it's just not something to get excited about while we are living. Todd Mazenko makes it painless and affordable. It's the best gift you can give your loved ones is having your "matters" handled and protected through your will, trust, and and properly having your estate planned. I HIGHLY recommend the Mazenko Law Firm as you will be treated with the most respect and care. I encourage you to not put off this important stuff.

We had a wonderful experience with Mazenko Law Firm for our estate planning needs. Brenda (Secretary) was so sweet and attentive. Todd was amazing. He spoke to us in a way that made it easier to understand and answered all our questions clearly. At the signing of our documents Jackie was also amazing. The entire staff answered all emails and phone calls right away. If you are in need of an estate attorney I would highly recommend Todd and his staff. You won’t be disappointed. After having poor service from two previous estate attorneys, I was fortunate to obtain the services of Todd Mazenko in Mt. Dora. He provided me with the most cogent information about my estate, found a solution to a critical issue in the original trust, and continued to provide answers to many questions that I had. Not only is he very knowledgeable, efficient, professional, he and his staff are so easy to work with and very friendly. I was never left hanging for needed information. Aside from his work with me, he also offers seminars regularly to explain various issues that surround estate planning. If you want the best, don't hesitate to contact him for a consultation and find out for yourself how worthwhile his service is. Thanks, Mr. Mazenko.

My late husband had hired a different attorney to represent him with social security. He was turned down 2 times. After the 2nd turn down, my husband was given a terminal diagnosis. He contacted his attorney and was told there was nothing they could do but wait for the court date. My husband told them that he would not survive to see a court date. That was in Feb. 2012. My husband passed away in June of 2012. I than searched for an attorney to represent me on my husbands pending appeal for the back pay. Mr. Gonzalez was recommended to me by another attorney. From the beginning he was honest and answered all my questions, including if there was anything that could have been done when my husband got his terminal diagnosis. He took my case even though it meant having to deal with the other attorney( who we dicovered had not ever requested a single document). The bottom line is we went to court and had a favorable outcome. and everytime I had a question I received a timely response. If you need an attorney in the area that he practices, use him. I am confident you will not regret it.

I became acquainted with Mr Baker thru a friend and know he took care of my friend many years. She could always count on him. He took care of her trust and later all her finances. She just passed away at 98 and he was there for her then too. He is a very good attorney and an honest caring man. Thank you Mr Baker

I met with Kevin back in 2012 looking to start an LLC. He walked me through the process step by step and was always available in a timely manner to answer any questions. Since establishing my company, I have met with Kevin on various other matters. He's always been extremely knowledgable and helpful making it much easier to navigate the unknown when starting a new business.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Mount Dora, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
