Rebecca and musca law are some of the best attorneys I have ever had the privilege to work with. Rebecca is really devoted to the best possible outcomes for her clients. She took the time to explain everything to me all through put my case, ensured that no stone was left unturned, and kept in constant communication with me through put the whole process. I never had to question what she was doing or how far along we were or what the next steps were because rebecca made sure I was in the know and felt comfortable with everything. On top of all of that WE WON! I will always recommend Rebecca and musca law to everyone I know as they are the best.

I had alot going on April 5th, 2018. I just got news that my disabled aunt was diagnosed with cancer. I went out to vent a bit ,and had some drinks. I lost track of my speed and was pulled over for my 2nd DUI. My license was immediately taken away, and a condition of my bond was a restriction that I could not leave the county. This was a problem because I was the caretaker for my aunt and was responsible for taking her to her doctor appointments and Cancer Specialist.. My DMV hearing was on May 24th 2018 and I was FACING 18 MONTHS SUSPENSION of my driving privileges. Attorney Rebecca Sonalia represented me on the DMV portion of the case. On the day of the hearing, Rebecca called me with John Musca on the line to inform me they had won my DMV case! I dropped to the floor crying!  Words cannot express how much they care, and all the hard work they have put into my case. They truly went out of their way for me. Now, I can take my aunt to the Cancer Specialist without worries or any issues, and it’s all because of them!!  My heart and gratitude goes out to John Musca and his team for all their efforts!. This whole ordeal has been a roller coaster for me, and they have been by my side through it all! God Bless you for all you have done for me. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!!

I knew Rebecca was good from the start. She is the kind of lawyer who dots her I and crosses her T. She had a strategy, using logic and intuition. She got to the truth on what happened that fateful night when I was stopped by the police. I was traumatized. This reversal of the suspension goes a long way in helping me heal. Thanks Rebecca Sonalia. Joyce

In March of 2017 Rebecca represented me in court for a citation I received for DUI and my license was suspended for 1 year. After she gather all the evidence and put together her defense case and presented it to the courts. She was able to have my suspension delayed until the actual DUI case is heard. That's an amazing feat and most appreciated. Now I can get my actual Drivers License re-instated. I am most grateful and if anyone needs a Great DMV lawyer Rebecca Sonalia is the one you MUST have.

Sued a former employee who embezzled from me and the bank who cashed the checks. He recovered ALL of my lost money. I have heard many attorneys who said they hated to oppose Mr. Cohn

Mark helped me navigate an issue whereby my employer terminated me while we had a contract. Mark advocated for me, and while we are still in litigation, has been able to extract some powerful evidence for my case. I'm confident in his ability to provide a favorable outcome.

Alan was involved for nine months in my real estate dispute which took over two years to conclude. He joined with his partner Michelle Hurvitz who had been leading the case since it began. Because of Covid I was not able to meet Alan in person, but it really didn't matter. His dedication and compassion were readily apparent by phone and zoom, and I immediately trusted his integrity and outstanding legal skills and judgement. He worked smoothly with Michelle to move my case to a successful verdict (We won!). They communicate openly and honestly and hone each other's thinking. I've taught executive teamwork in many companies and countries, and these two, Hamisch and Hurvitz, are the real deal.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Naples, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
