Mr Williams and his father have been a wonderful asset to my family! His office handled my mothers legal documents and finally the probate of her will.

January 10, our first paid consultation July 6, our request to close our account During almost 6 months, Mr. Williams worked just over 5 hours on our account, according to his statement (which we had to request). He chose to spend most of that time on our #2 priority, and almost no time on our most pressing problem. When we contacted his office during those 6 months, we were told, repeatedly, neither matter “would take much time” to resolve.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO WILL HANDLE YOUR CASE PROPERLY. I hired this lawyer to handle my grandfather’s estate in Florida. I originally was not going to write a review, but am still finding mistakes that are costing us TWO YEARS LATER! The paralegal was inexcusable on how many mistakes occurred and continued to be made throughout our case. Her email responses to her mistakes consist of (“obviously one of those checks was payable to”……) on DOCUMENTS sent to CPA's!!! Constant spelling mistakes throughout which now is causing a huge headache when filing taxes. During our case, we were fighting another law firm regarding the estate and another family for the estate funds. Many gross calculation errors in the sum of thousands of dollars sent over. I was told to track things and spent large amounts of time only to be then told “well I wasn’t sure and it turns out we can’t claim those.” In addition, at the end, they divided funds incorrect and people were not reimbursed for money spent out of their pockets. Luckily, our family gets along so it was no problem for us to write the checks correctly to each other. Their response was appalling to those mistakes. Even after multiple corrections throughout the two-year ordeal, they continued to make the same errors on future documents. In addition, this lawyer will NOT fight for your side! It was obvious when we had to stick to our guns and tell them to go back and do their jobs for what was owed to our case. They were not fighting to help us and were merely trying to quickly end the probate which I assume at this point was to collect their money. It got to the point that I went to another local law-firm to check on their work at the end out of frustration and concern. They could not believe what they saw and were out right laughing at their emails jaw dropped. Unfortunately, the probate was done so nothing could be changed without a massive ordeal and money. 2 years was stressful enough for this probate I can’t put my family through anymore or myself. RUN FROM THIS LAW-FIRM OR SEEK OTHER LEGAL ADVICE TO ENSURE ACCURACY BEFORE CLOSING YOUR CASE.

If you need a personal injury lawyer I can highly recommend Charles “Chuck” Philips. He just won a case for me and I was very impressed with his legal skills and his caring personality. He doesn’t advertise because he relies on satisfied clients, like me, to personally recommend him to others. My personal recommend is sincere. Advertisements are written by ad agencies and may have nothing to do with the truth.

Mr. Phillips came highly recommended and we're so happy for that. He handled our car accident case so well from the beginning. He kept us in the loop and let us know what to expect step by step. He answered all our questions with patience and we never doubted his dedication. I definitely recommend him and his efficient staff.

This was the first time I have ever been in an accident and I could not have navigated this tough situation without Sarah’s guidance and expertise. She was compassionate, caring, and most knowledgeable throughout the two year long suit. She kept me informed and assured me every step of the way. She would check on me and my healing journey often and I know she really cares about my wellbeing. I would recommend her to everyone I know. I am truly grateful to her and the whole team! Thank you!

Spencer and Ryan provided me with the guidance necessary to resolve an issue with Chase Bank at our initial 1-hour meeting. This information allowed me to resolve the issue without having to pay thousands of dollars that other attorneys wanted to help me. Spencer also helped my wife and I put together our last will and testaments, living wills, designation of health care surrogates, and durable power of attorneys. I recommend Spencer and this firm to anyone that needs help with their financial matters.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of New Port Richey, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
