After 2 1/2 years of my husband and I trying to handle a legal matter on our own, it was to the point that we needed legal counsel. My husband and I contacted Attorney Szmuc’s and within 3 months of representation, Attorney Szmuc was able to get the lawsuit dismissed and closed. Attorney Szmuc went above and beyond for my husband and I, and we are truly grateful for everything he has done for us. My husband and I can finally breathe and enjoy our life.

Mrs. Rhonda F. Gelfman, P.A. by far, is one of the best attorneys in the State of Florida. Rhonda demonstrated her impeccable expertise in my Child Support case. On April 23, 2018, Attorney Rhonda Gelfman got me a verdict of zero payment. I am so glad I had attorney Rhonda F. Gelfman as my attorney, and I highly recommend her to anyone who wants a favorable outcome in his/her case. Rhonda, you are the best, Thank you!!!

Years ago, i have been through a lot of immigration troubles. A friend of mine referred me to Rhonda Faith Gelfman and guaranteed that I will be happy with her work. I did as i was told, and the result have been outstanding. She has a great team especially the paralegal ,MIRIAM CHAMORRO; oh Lord, she knows what she is doing. Miriam tries everything to stay in touch with clients such as Phone calls, and e-mails. The team treats clients with respect, which is my number one priority. I could have not been happier. I highly recommend Attorney Rhonda Faith Gelfman because she is very clever and knowledgeable.

Chris represented me in an auto accident where I was rear ended. This was the third time I have went through being hit from behind so I thought I knew what to expect but things were completely different with Chris. He kept in close touch with us. He took the worry out of the process. He got the case settle for full limits without court and in less than a year. Way less. He is not just an attorney he is a caring person with a sincere heart. Do yourself a favor and have this man fight for you. You will almost feel sorry for the insurance company but don’t. They don’t care about you at all.

I was in the middle of complicated time sharing modification. I attempted to do this myself but once I realized how involved and complicated my case was going to be I knew I needed to get an attorney. After several consultations with attorneys who seemed only to care about money ,telling me it would cost me tens of thousands of dollars, I met with Attorney Chris Nenov. I explained my case and he was not only compassionate he was willing to work with me. I was not simple a paycheck he cared and my child’s future was on the line. Chris took on my case, worked hard and won! (Something others told me i had a 50/50 chance at) He was reassuring, was easy to contact and immediately returned my calls and emails. I would highly recommend Attorney Chris Nenov All day!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my child’s heart too !!

I used the law offices of Laurence Edward Zieper and I was very glad that I did. He was very helpful from the beginning. He guided me through the entire process, as I really had no idea of what to expect. He and his team handled all of my insurance questions and did all of the necessary paperwork. He was very professional and very compassionate as well. I felt very much at ease after speaking to Mr. Zieper. I knew he was looking out for my best interest and he certainly did. This office comes highly recommended.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of North Miami Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
