I was, indeed, fortunate to be referred to Kathy by a friend. My particular circumstances could have resulted in the loss of my business and home. With Kathy’s guidance and knowledge, both were saved and she has my eternal gratitude. Her direct and no nonsense approach in her questioning disarmed those who tried to manipulate and scam the system. Also, her office manager, Kathleen, was always kind and responsive. They are an incredible team and I recommend them without reservation!

I had contacted Kathy concerning after losing custody of my children. During my divorce, I didn’t have representation, so my parenting plan was oppressive and it didn’t leave Kathy with a lot to fight with. However, Kathy did extensive research and really worked hard to do what she could for me. In the end, Kathy helped to get my children back. Throughout the process, I found Kathy to be incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and responsive to my calls. She was always available when I needed her. Most importantly, I felt that Kathy really cared about me and my case throughout the process. I would highly recommend Kathy to anyone in need of her services. She knows the law and will provide excellent representation.

Kathryn represented me in a tough divorce, where my husband was in much better position than me. As Kathryn walked in the courtroom to represent me, I knew that the outcome of my case was going to be the best due to the circumstances. Being represented by Kathryn, I felt more than confident, and I'm grateful to the person who recommended me her until now. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of legal advice and services.

Kathryn was my 3rd attorney in my paternity case and I wish I would have consulted with her from the beginning! After hiring Kathryn my case moved along smoothly and I was very happy with our outcome with the case. She worked diligently and I couldn't be happier with her work. Kathleen is her paralegal and she was always reachable and helped me a lot as well. They were both so understanding of my situation. I am sure with all the years of experience they have, they have seen it all which made it so easy to speak with them of our circumstances and I felt like she completely understood my concerns. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of family law attorney. Thank you both for everything! :)

Divorce is no easy process and I am grateful to have found Ms. Beamer to represent me. Ms. Beamer was the right amount of firm to fight for my cause. This is in combination with a great representation of tact to do things the right way. I am without regrets in having gone through the process to trial. Ms. Beamer is respected by judges, logical in her approach, and worth the investment. She gave me the best shot to be heard and to have a stable re-start for me and my kids. I really would not have had a chance without her representation.

Mr Copeland is not only a top knotch attorney, but an amazing person of character that we have the utmost respect for. His level of integrity and old school work ethic cannot be surpassed. You will really feel he cares about you and sincerely wants to help. I had the need to hire him in the past, about 10 years ago, and brought my partner for a consultation recently and he didn't disappoint. After leaving his office, my partner said Mr Copeland is the kind of attorney he remembered, who show genuine care and concern for the client. Attorneys like him are difficult to find.

He was recommended to me by a prominent lawyer. He was kind, understanding, helpful. The main thing I would say was that the judge respected him tremendously. It showed he handles his cases very well and guided me through significantly well. This was several years ago when the bubble occurred.

Mr. Copeland is a compassionate, knowledgeable professional. He took the time to explain exactly what filing a chapter 13 entailed from start to finish! Any question I had he answered even if it wasn't on the day of my appointment. I was a.nervous wreck and he took time to get me through that! . If I had to call his office his staff what just great like I knew them all my life and completely professional. If I ever have any financial problem in the future he is the first person I will contact.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of North Palm Beach, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
