Mr. Richard Hornsby is one of the greatest, Attorneys He is his father's son. No doubt . I found him excellent. I used his father early on in the day when he was still with us. And now I used His son Being Richard Hornsby. I read some of these reviews which I thought were very cruel.I think peopleneed to learn the difference between a straight Out forward black & white hard working attorney instead of putting him down as some of these reviews, I saw and I believe the reviews were the same exact person just by the writings on the wall .Mr. Hornsby is very black & white straight forward very quick with his words Boom! He don't want to hear Nothing but the facts. Okay, I get it. Hey, I drove him crazy too. But I gotta say something this man works. that's the kind of attorney you want straight out black & white. No bsing. Hes a hard worker and he does have time for everybody. It's just that he's fast and he's quick at the tongue. But that's a good thing, because when you get a attorney like that. You know something is getting done and he got my case Done in just a few weeks and now I have hired him for the second time as of today being December 14th 2024.. So if you want an attorney that works hard and is fast and quick at the tongue and straight out in black & white. Hes your guy! No white picket fence here. Let's just get the job done and that's what Mr. Hornsby does, and that's what makes him so valuable, and that's what made me respect him as much as I always respected his father. I have referred Mr. Hornsby to 5 people. Today was my fifth person. And let me tell you something i worked for a lot of attorneys in the past in my younger days and and I used Mr. Hornsby's father in the 70s late 70s I think don't hold me to it. And I could tell you this. He is definitely his father's son and if I could give him 10 stars on here, I would so so please don't put somebody down unless you understand why that person is the way they are. And also the few reviews I read on here. That I said I believed was the same person. You sounded like you might have been a bit confused through your review and your case I read Mr Hornsbys rebuttal back to you and I thought it was excellent. And it also thought it was very mannered. And it also thought it was very professional not nasty just straight out and to the point! So I'm just gonna say this. I hired him again today. Like I said earlier and I would hire him again and again and I'll keep referring him. Not that he needs it because everybody wants the !Richard Hornsby just as they wanted his father! . I was so happy to be able to get him. And other attorneys, I know personally criminal attorneys. Asked me, why did you hire Richard instead of us? And my answer was crystal.Clear and clean and the truth.I said I used his father. He was a magnificent man and I liked the way he carried himself like father like son. And thats why i hired Richard Hornsby! Richard did carry himself his Self proudly and with dignity as his father did and worked very hard as his father did. if you can handle a man thats straight out and forward then hire richard hornsby !the Hornsby family has been around for years!!! And thats a huge plus!!! Thk you mr Richard Hornsby im grateful

Richard Horsby was a beacon of hope to my family at a time when our options of a satisfactory resolution seemed nearly impossible. He is wicked smart and really made a difference in my case and my life. Richard got the case dismissed with nothing but the truth! He has a concise, terse, pithy personality, but I recommend him with all my heart. Thank you, Richard! You really helped me, and my family close the chapter on this incident.

The group I represent had several very technical legal questions that we needed answered very quickly. Ms. Bertrand listened carefully to our problem, asked several questions on issues we had not even considered, and was able to get back to us with a detailed answer and recommendations on how we should proceed in a timly manner. Our group has never had full time legal consultants, but we do now. We highly recommend this firm and Ms. Bertrand in particular. She was very personable, easy to understand and she answered our question in a way that was easy for us who do not speak "legalize" to understand.

I couldn't be more satisfied with the the service I received. Everything that was promised was delivered, and more. My case was dismissed, I saved money, and I didn't have to waste my time with a traffic class. Jeff Lotter and Marissa were attentive and helpful. I hope I won't need to seek this kind of help again, but if I do, I know who to call.

Awesome experience being represented by the Law Office of Jeff Lotter. Talked to them twice and explained the situation and they handled everything else. Had the whole case dismissed: no fines, no points, no school, nothing!

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Orlando, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
