What do you do when you are involved in a double total loss high speed rear end impact car accident that may have caused serious injuries? There’s a catch, what if you used to be an adjuster and an insurance agent? This was my situation and even though I am familiar with many aspects of car accidents and claims I still needed someone in case I was seriously injured. I called my best friend who is a board certified attorney in two areas and asked him, what attorney in our area is honest, ethical, professional, and highly respected by the community and a host of professionals including the insurance industry. He referred me to Scott Smith immediately. Scott grew up in this area just like my family and has built a reputation as one, if not the most well respected attorneys in his area of practice (personal injury). As a previous claims adjuster, the first thing you get from an attorney represented client is the letter of representation. As an adjuster this letter indicates quite a bit. Basically they know which firms run you through a mill and settle and take their third and then there are a few attorneys like Scott whose name means something. As an adjuster you realize he must have a legitimate case that should be taken seriously and handled with respect and within the confines of our laws. This was the main reason I was honored to have Scott represent me in this case. His name Carries weight! You don’t see this advertised direct like this by firms, but as a previous adjuster I know what that means and how important that is. I ended up having two surgeries from the injuries and a mountain of medical bills. Luckily as a prior agent I carried a good amount of uninsured motorist coverage to protect me in situations like this. The case was settled right after my surgeon released me from care without any litigation and the maximum amount of insurance from the other driver’s policy and my policy was recovered. They were quick to reconcile the outstanding medical bills and release a high percentage of the settlement to me while awaiting to account for some additional medical bills being processed. His paralegal Vicki, actually was an adjuster at the same company I worked with previously and provided excellent, timely, same day service whenever I had a question. I had to provide a contractual statement to the insurance company just prior to settlement and it was handled professionally and ethically by all parties involved. The outcome of the case was the best scenario we could have expected and Scott was clear to explain up front of alternative situations that may arise and was ready to handle them. We did not have to cross that bridge and it was my first experience of my own injury accident and it was actually a pleasant experience and I have Scott and Vicki to thank for that. I would not hesitate to recommend Scott’s firm to anyone who has suffered from any type of injury accident. His reputation in the community as a family man, as the top Personal Injury Attorney, and his reputation as a well respected attorney in the insurance industry are all valuable assets that will make your experience as pleasurable as possible with a favorable outcome. Having Scott allowed me to focus on my rehabilitation from my injuries and get me on the road to recovery to optimal physical health. The settlement was a high number which I choose to keep private. I do recommend carrying high uninsured motorist limits to anyone who thinks of penny pinching on their insurance bill. There are to many un or underinsured drivers and you need to control what you can control and protect yourself. I’m glad I did or this experience would have been far different.
