After a really tough 10 years with another attorney my family decided to replace him with Robert and it was the best choice we ever made. I searched for months to find someone with his skills and integrity. Unlike our past experience Robert was thorough, knowledgeable and honest. He is not greedy and truly wants to do what his best for your estate. We have been working with Robert for years now and I highly recommend him whether your matter be in New York or Florida.

i received Robert's contact information from a family friend who raved about him. I had some questions about drafting an estate plan. I called Robert and made an appointment. When I met with him, he answered all my questions and was so pleasant. His rates were very reasonable. I ended up putting my estate plan on hold because I found out that my job could be relocated to another state. When I called Robert to tell him that, he could not have been nicer. I offered to pay him for all the time he took with me (about 90 minutes) but he refused to charge me. I couldn't believe it. Robert is a wonderful and caring attorney! If my relocation plans change, I'll definitely go back to him.

Thank you for your support and guidance through this very difficult time. It has meant so very much to me and my family. When my wife died, you administered her trust and estate, protected our assets, successfully fought off creditors, and saved my family over $500,000 in estate taxes. Thanks to your legal knowledge and experience, my family will now have millions to inherit.

I hired Robert after my mom passed away. He was nothing but kind and caring. He quoted me a very reasonable price and never nickel and dimed me. Robert was always available to answer my questions. I read the previous review, and my experience with Robert could not have been any more different. I highly, highly recommend Robert as a thoughtful, caring and very experienced estate planning attorney.

Tim is the type of lawyer everyone wishes that had on their side. He took a personal interest in my case and treated me like family, not just a client. I had direct access to Tim via cell phone and email and he was super responsive and took the time to explain everything in a way that even I could understand. He really made me feel comfortable in a very stressful situation and I knew from the very beginning that he had my back if things got out of control. I’ll admit I spoke to other lawyers, but chose Tim because of his receptiveness and his ability to protect my interests. I would not hesitate to recommend Tim to anyone looking for a great lawyer, He’s focused on helping you and thats what won me over.

Won my case by showing the court the officer had no right to stop me. The DUI was dismissed and I couldn't be happier. So thankful I called Mr. Burley.

I was scared and didn't know what to do when I got my DUI. I called Attorney Burleys office and was immediately at ease. Financially his office let me make payments and within a few weeks my entire case was dismissed I didn't even have to go to court one time. I would highly recommend him. His paralegal was also very knowledgeable as well and walked me through everything I needed to know about the DMV. Thank you both again.

My wife hired Stuart for a pending criminal issue i was facing. I met with him and he was awesome from the get go. He called my nerves he explained everything to me and didn't blow smoke up my @$$ with flase promises. He answered all of my questions, and believe me between my wife and I tjere were allot, he answered all my calls even on the weekends. He worked very hard and did exactly what he promised me he was going to do. I was facing some serious time and he was able to get it down to house arrest, which if u saw what i was facing you would be happy too. Liz came on later in the case but was just as amazing in getting stuff done quickly. So no matter if it's criminal or civil these are the lawyers u want on your side.

Stuart and Joe used their experience as former FBI agents to get ahead of our legal mess. What started off as millions of dollars in seized assets and likely prison time, according to the Prosecutors, quickly turned into only a civil matter. These guys traveled 2500 miles for a 3 day proffer and drove to our home 3 hours away several times in the middle of out mess.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
