I was charged with drug trafficking and was facing lots of time. Thankfully, I was referred to Mr. Liebling who kept me out of prison. Mr. Liebling really seemed to care about me and my case and was great about keeping me up to date. I consider myself lucky to have found him.

5 Stars. He kept me out of prison when I was charged in federal court. I heard from a lot of people that federal court is different than being charged in state court (that the penalties are pretty serious), and my family and I, to be blunt, were worried. I would absolutely recommend Mr. Liebling, no question.

DUI not guilty at trial. He returns calls!!! If you have questions will take the time to make sure you understand what's happening in the case. Never makes unrealistic promises and will let you know up front what the possible outcomes are and will not sugar coat it. Puts his fees in writing so you know what you are getting.

As an adolescent in 2005 i was charged with trafficking MDMA and sale & poss of marijuana. I hired Edward Liebling to handle my case based on his qualifications i read online. Not only was he able to keep me out of prison and handle my case with the utmost integrity, but his legal advice was spot on the entire time. He is a true professional and expert in his field. He kept in direct contact with me the entire time and left himself available with her personal cell phone number. Since my case, he has been more than just a former attorney that i hired, but someone i can call a personal friend. Ive called him on many occasions for advice ranging from legal all the way to college and personal advice. He's a genuine person who truly cares about his clients. It is now 9 years later and although i have not had to hire him again for any legal issues, we still touch base from time to time just to chat and see how things are going. His guidance during the last 9 years has led me to be a more powerful, driven person, with goals set and a clear path of what i need to do. Ive managed to carry myself through college, coming into my senior year for a bachelors degree in Cell & Molecular Biology. He is truly an amazing attorney, and a great asset to my success since my troubles in 2005. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone seeking legal counsel. He is truly the best around, and the advice he gives for any case is advice that can be guaranteed to be accurate.

Thorough and innovative, Will keep you informed of your case, answer all of your questions and will not tell you just what you want to hear. Nature of case: An old matter that needed to be sealed but it would require an innovative approach. It was done successfully even though you may be told it could not be done. Charges more than some but less than others but fair and well worth it.

My husband and I decided to offer our son as part of his graduation present, a will... This may sound extremely unusual I can admit but if you think about it, they are legally adults and most likely leaving home for college. What if, God forbids, something was to happen to them? How many of us have taken the time to ask our children if they want to be cremated or buried? DNR? How much information can we get if them end up in a hospital because of the privacy/ HIPPA rules? What about their bank accounts/ credit cards/ loans? Completely unnatural for a parent to think that something tragic could happen to our adult children but trust me, the peace of mind that Henry provided to our family is priceless.

Mr. Hensley and Shelbi make a great team while helping me get Social Security disability. I was told by my doctor that getting disability on your own is nearly impossible. Thanks to Mr. Hensley and Shelbi for making my life a lot less stressful due to all their hard work.

I would like to share the wonderful experience I had with The law firm of Jeffrey Hensley. His law office was both kind and professional. Shelbi is a hard working, kind and understanding person who is dedicated to her work. She always answered any question I had with compassion. Mr Hensley should be commended for his dedication to his clients as a person first and not as simply people to charge. He and his office are truly dedicated to helping people which is becoming something that you are seeing less of today. If you need any kind of legal help please call Mr. Hensley. I am not a paid person of any kind so if this review sounds like it I am simply overwhelmed by the generosity , kindness and compassion that has been given to me in a very difficult and scary time in my life due to some serious health issues. Thank you again Mr Hensley and Shelbi!

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Palm Harbor, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
