I hired this woman to represent my cousin, she make me overpay her, she got the money. Never send me the contract. I call and call and kept calling that woman and she never picks up the phone. Call her office and they never got me to her. A whole lot of unprofessional, finally she did everything so late and she misrepresent my cousin and she filled the form for my cousin and she input the opposite of what my cousin told her and my cousin went to court and his case went to appeal because he answered something one way, and she had something else on the form. Still I hired her, I never got a contract and she never pick up the phone until 2 months later when I used my wife phone to call her. She hang up on me and told me to never call her again, no contract still. That lady is a horrible person. Coming from me I do not like giving people bad reviews but she did not even try.

Attorney Margaret was hired to attend to a immigration legal matter on behalf of our family member and not only was she extremely rude and condescending but dishonest in the process. She stated that twice she went to visit our family member in holding and in her words he “was not there” and twice I called the facility and they confirmed that he was in fact there. Still trying to be understanding of her position I tried to ask her what else we can do with the funds we’ve given her which is when she abruptly cut me off and talked me down about how hard she’s worked for her law degree and took two trips to the facility and will not be refunding any money, I didn’t even ask our money we just wanted help. Needless to say; We’re now stuck with no help and money lost. You live and you learn, we never use her services again.

I met Mrs. Blot through another lawyer that my husband had that couldn’t handle our immigration case. From the day I met her I asked my husband why didn’t you hired her first because she seems like she knew more that the lawyer we had. My husband’s case was denied with immigration, we hired Mrs. Blot she did an appeal for us. In less than a year my husband was issued a green card. I would highly recommend her, trust her and let her work.

My divorce was handled by her. I was kept in the loop most of the time, there was a waiting period between getting a court date and posting a notification in the local paper. She showed up to court defended my honor and I was fully satisfied. Her staff however lacked the ability to effectively communicate the standing of the cases; it was only after finding a method of setting face to face appointments with her that I realized how good of a deal I got with her on my side. All in all, I was satisfied with her representation, however I would change her support staff at my earliest convenience

I value responsiveness and practicality in my attorney. Mr. Patton does a great job thinking through the needs of each situation and not doing too much or too little. He does just what is needed and responds timely each time. He is a true professional and I’m glad to know him.

Meticulous, detail oriented and an absolute professional. Eric Masson is all this and more. I have worked with Eric as the buyer’s attorney, when I sold my practice and then he represented me as my attorney for a practice purchase, and I feel it’s rare to say that on both instances it was an absolute pleasure to work with someone who is so incredibly professional and impeccable in what he does. I would without doubt highly recommend Eric to everyone whom I know. He truly deserves a huge shoutout. Thank you again Eric for your help and guidance.

We hired Eric and his firm early on in our Medical business planning (Dentist of Aventura). We needed multiple complex contracts/documents created from scratch, which required us to have many meetings with Eric to iron out the details. Eric even provided great inputs on how to structure our entity and best business practices. On our first Health Department inspection, we provided all the documentation, and passed with flying colors. Eric continued to provide us support through out the process, going above and beyond. Couldn't be happier!

Eric was recommended by a local attorney who felt I would better be served by him for the sale of my dental practice. On the very first phone call, all the important bullet points were made known to me (e.g. his background, qualifications, fee, etc.). It was a fixed fee. While I had no context to compare if the fee was appropriate for the work to be done, I went with him simply because I had a good feeling about Eric from my conversations. He did not disappoint. As it turned out, the fee was well earned. Each question and concern was immediately answered by text, email or phone call. The answers were always clear and precise and reflected a depth of knowledge for which I had hoped . Another aspect of my dealings with Eric was that the process was not easy with the buyer and sometimes contentious. The encouragement he gave along the way helped immensely. I believe that speaks volumes about Eric personally and professionally. I recommend Eric and the Eskow Law Group to anyone in the medical/dental field without hesitation. Joe

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Pembroke Pines, Florida?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
