I found Joe's name and rating on AVVO. I had no experience with ever needing a lawyer so I did some research and because of his rating picked him to listen to my story. Most attorney's would have thought that my car accident was not worth their time to take on, but Joe listened and said he would help me through the process. Joe and his staff were so professional, and at the same time, so personable. Due to my car accident I had to have surgery, Joe and his staff stepped up and made sure all my needs were being addressed. Joe gave me his cell phone number so that I could call him anytime day or night 24/7. I would have never thought that any attorney would give me their personal phone number and yet he did. My case was not going to win millions of dollars, but that did not matter to Joe. Joe and his staff worked hard to make sure I won my case. The thing that impressed me the most is that no matter when you call, no matter how many cases he is working on at the time, Joe always remembers who you are and what your case is about. This is a man that is truly dedicated to the law and to helping people. We have all heard terrible jokes about lawyers, but I can promise you, none of them apply to Joe. If I ever need to use an attorney again, Joe will be my first call.

Mr. Gene Mitchell is a excellent attorney. He went over the facts pertaining to two separate cases I had. He explained to me the facts as he saw it, discussed any potential hazzards, reponded to my and (with my permission) my grandfather concerns. He kept us informed throughout the process. Joe is an extraordinarily gifted & tenacious attorney. He was my attorney during the most disturbing time of my life. My story begins the morning of May 8, 2000. It is not dramatic to say, the world as I knew it ended that morning. I was having Gastric Bypass to help me lose weight & become healthier. However, that is not what happened. Soon after the surgery I developed a massive leak caused by a defective CDH-29 Ethicon circular stapler. It failed to function properly (what the surgeon later deemed as a “technical issue”) during the surgery & opened up a leak in my abdomen. Hours later, I became gravely ill as the contents of my stomach & intestines destroyed me from the inside out. Massive pain wracked my body as I slid to the floor & stopped breathing. Doctors were able to revive me but I never walked without assistance again. They tried to repair the damage to my stomach & intestines but I fell into a coma for over two months. During the coma, I suffered CVA strokes that took part of my vision, crippled my legs & one of my arms. I nearly died. After 9 months I was rolled out of the hospital a broken man. Another 1 ½ years of surgeries & intensive rehabilitation led to me regaining some of my faculties. I lost my job, my house, all my worldly possessions, & worst of all, my wife left with my 3 children. In early 2001 I first met Joe Zarzaur & his partners. He was just starting out in law. He was young, quiet & intense. When I began to relate my story he listened absorbedly. The firm took my case & thus began my association with Joe. Sometimes it is hard to believe he has been in my life for 15 years. He has seen me struggle out of a wheelchair, to a walker, then to forearm crutches. He witnessed my struggles after losing everything I held so dear in my life. My case was a complicated matter. It involved a defective surgical product made by Ethicon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Joe & his team spent years trying to pry information out of the stingy grips of a company who had something to hide. It took many months & numerous court hearings to get them to comply with court orders to release documentation. Even after court orders & hearings Ethicon used sleight of hand & legal maneuvers to stall & hide documents from Joe. Perhaps these tactics might have worked on other attorneys, but it just caused Joe to work harder to find the truth. Joe was convinced that J&J knew their product was defective & was the root cause of my many injuries. He was like a pit bull; once engaged he was not about to let a multi-billion dollar Mega Corporation intimidate him into letting go. It took him years of fencing with Ethicon lawyers that were determined the case would not go to court. He finally drug them kicking & screaming into the very place they did not want to go. It took 12 long years to finally get justice. Most attorneys would have given up on my case in that length of time. Joe believed in me. He believed in the case & he believed we could win. He was never afraid to go against the big guys & their money. When the Jury Foreman read the decision the lead Ethicon attorney’s face reflected pure hatred for Joe. Ethicon’s large team of attorneys stalked out of the courtroom without so much as a congratulatory handshake to Joe & his small team. Johnson & Johnson with all their attorneys & all their money were defeated by a single determined attorney & his team. The jury awarded me 9.4 million dollars that day. They made the award because an attorney & his team were determined to seek justice. The verdict changed my life. I felt vindicated & I knew I could finally move forward with my life. I’m very happily married to a wonderful woman & live a quiet life. I am thankful to have met Joe all those years ago & I recommend him in all facets of personal injury law. You might find another firm to represent you but I promise, you will never find a better man & attorney to fight for you. He exemplifies how an attorney should fight for a client’s rights & I am proud to call him a friend.

We did not win because of me, but because he cared enough about me and my story that he did his homework/research and was able to prove this defendant was a liar. Joe and his staff have stood by me and my family when I was scared, sad, depressed and now ecstatic. I received my justice… If you are someone in need of a defender (attorney) that is not afraid of important people or large companies. An attorney that is amazing if you go to trial and will fight for you with everything they have. Someone that is no-nonsense and will not sugar coat the facts for you. Hire Joe.
